They are very different kites...i think the varial X could be more comparable with north Dice, even evo.

also the varial x is an all around freestyle kite and the rebel is a freeride kite.
Tell us which is your style, conditions etc...

riding style is more freeride oriented but I like jumping as high as possible. Not much in the way of unhooked anymore due to age. Conditions are typically 30 km/hr, choppy with some big swell on large wind days. Thanks for any help.

For freeride and floaty jumps Rebel will do you better or Lithium from Airush if you want to go that route (or Rally from Slingshot if you don't want 5 lines with Rebel).

The new 2015 VX is more freeride oriented and boosts big and is easier to get the best out of than the last couple of generations. When you send it, it climbs hard and will haul you up higher than a rebel. The rebel will glide a bit longer, but the vx will give you the height. Demo time I reckon :naughty:

How do they compare in waves? Able to park them both or does one pull more? Sadly, I don't live anywhere that demo'ing is an option.

I haven't used the VX but the Rebel is a great freeride choice and jumps very well. A buddy of mine swears by his Rebels and the times that I have ridden the kites, they are very good. Love the no pulleys and the direct steering of these kites. No lag in steering is very nice and the lower bar pressure makes many people happy (my own preference is for more bar pressure). There is a reason why they are the number one selling kite for North!
