I believe that type of quick release is called a pelican hook. All the quick releases I've seen in kitesurfing use this style. That particular hardware is from a Cabrihna leash. I too have heard you can't tie knots with Amsteel, but I've watched it closely and it hasn't slid down the line. I've since put shrink tubing on the ends, after the knots, and I don't believe they could come undone now. I've got other ideas for terminating the lines, but haven't felt it is necessary.

So, any sites with affordable spare parts? And not the Switch site, they don't offer anymore what I'm looking for.

I'm considering to get a BWS bar grip, but I'm not sure which QR to use yet. I hate the BWS/OR QR and want to change it. But no way I'm buying -for example- the new Ozone release for 200,-. The Epic release looks nice, but I'm paying for the depower rope too, and I'm not using that.

Personal favourite release mechanism is the BRM Cloud system. I've customised mine, but the principle is the same. Really simple, great idea and it works well. No more chickenloop, so you can extend your bar throw if you wish. Or not. The release mechanism is also how you disconnect from the kite when your session is over, which is great for developing the muscle memory. The pin is from a Cabrinha safety leash. The ball is easy to find.

Costs 77€
Price is acceptable. QR has almost the same issues why I don't like the BWS release... mostly the donkey dick. But I don't like the way it resets too when you hold it and the kite is powered.

I'm looking for something like the North/LF/Ozone/Epic/Eleveight release.

Finished the bar. Just have to add the mainline stopper, but those haven't arrived yet. 300kg and 500kg SK99 lines. Total cost 290 Euros (over 50,- for all the shipping). Some pics:

Faxie,

Where did you get your chicken-loop?
