@markymarc you definitely have something faulty with the setup. I've been riding a 2015 9m and 11m since they came out and i haven't exeperienced such problem, niether has 2 other mates who also bought new gear. I love big airs so im constantly jumping and doing tricks... Maybe give Cabrinha a shout!

Its a known problem with weakness in the release bungee and when you call Cabrinha, they will instruct you to call your dealer who will organize bungee replacement. There's no mystery on how the release works.

The first thing i did when receiving my kite gear was check it out and found that i needed the spring stopper ball but my bungee on the safety was 100 percent. First port of call was too speak too my dealer who sorted the recoil spring happily. My advice is too do the fixes , which are minor and quick to sort out, then test. If it continues, i would ask for a complete replacement bar as it might be a "factory fault" to the alignment of the safety catch .
why wait til it happens again? if your dealer is close; just go get the replacement bungee. if the dealer isn't close, contact them and have them mail it to you

Looks like replacing the bungee is pretty easy, if that is really what it is. I would think by inspection you would be able to see if it was too long/weak. If you cannot get a quick replacement, could you just put a knot below the crimp to shorten it? I would think you could get a bungee anywhere, the replacement in the video is just knotted and not even crimped.

I had this with my North bars...every time I wanted to ride blind, the QR opened...still don't know why.
But otherwise it holds up...
My north bar did this yesterday in the middle of a loop. line actually wrapped around my wrist and cut it. The look of the photographers face scared me more than the incident. I'm kinda pissed he quit shooting. Would have paid for a shot of me with a line around my wrist.
