Fastest turning kites you have flown?

Postby Do-it » Fri Dec 26, 2014 9:44 pm

Ahoy, Just wondering what kites people have actually flown and found to be faster turners in the 10-14m range.

The 14m Bandit turns faster then most 12m's we sell. Its a great large kitesurfing kite. I ve been able to get it around and catch me a few times on some lit kite loops. We also just reviewed the 17m Bandit that turns faster then the 2014 14m switchblade.

The bandit is hands down the fastest kite I've ever flown. Hated it.

I have had experience only with Bandit so i can't compare much. I have learned on 10 m and I find that 12 m turns pretty fast if the wind is strong enough and you don't depower it.

Here is a video of me learning jump with downloop and jump transition on the bandit 12m:

With a bit of training I am pretty sure you can kiteloop the bandit 12 no pb so it definitely is fast.

Supa- I understand you can make any kite loop faster, But some are faster than others. For instance, I'll never be able to turn a 12 rebel as fast as a12 vegas, (which is the fastest turner I have experience with.) I think I saw you out with all the surfing santa's on Wednesday. Like an idiot, I believed the wind forecast and left my flite back in Orlando :( . I won't be making that mistake again.

I have flown an older 12m bandit (2012, i think) and did notice the speed.Yet still, Not quite as fast as the vegas though.
Dylan- What made your experience with the bandit so bad? I like having a kite to be where I want before I think about it.

Never say never...you can learn to Do-it with the Reb :thumb:

How did it make you feel to see all those Santas standing on their SUP's ?

Yep the South wind got worst and worst as the morning went by instead of increasing
Should have taken my Nugget instead of my Whip in retrospect

I had fun as always...the inside had a lot of drift and barely 8kn of wind...the outside had 11-13kn
It was much windier (16kn ) when i started at 9:30am...so the forecast was wayyyyyyy offfffff

In any case the parachute drop was awesome to watch
I barely made it back upwind 5 blocks to where i started
Wind became very gusty and side side off...SSW..around 11:15am

A kiting friend from the Fire Dept. was patrolling and filming the event with Go-Pro from on Jet Ski
He will edit a short video of when i was out there

The new Ozone REO 2015 are turning fast and smooth. Nice kites for learning kiteloops.

I'm an RPM guy but if you want the fastest turning, try a Bandit. You'll prob buy it on the spot lol. It's an incredibly fast moving/turning kite, softer on grunt. Generates good pop through speed.

Just because it's so fast and turns pivotally, it drops back in the window whenever you turn it the slightest bit, which made it too grunty for me because I'm <150 lbs. I liked the kite otherwise, light bar pressure, good pop, insane lift. But I'd have to fly it on a 25cm bar to really get the most out of it.

Just to compare it to another kite for a moment - the Dice is also a really fast kite, but it flies a bit different. It responds instantly to any bar input, but it stays mostly at the edge unless you give it a good turn to dive it deeper. I prefer that kind of turning, because it's less grunty until you fly it more aggressively.
