IKO Instructor Question

Postby simon2312 » Sun Feb 08, 2015 10:34 am

Lets say I become a Level 1 instructor and I gain access to the online job list,
how does it work from here? Is the list more offer or more demand based?
Let's say for example I want to work in Capetown, how easy would that be?

Just checked...most jobs on the IKO list require a Level II instructor.

Maybe IKO is like the Mafia, once you're in you're in... And once in, it's the Omerta...

There are always lots of Instructor jobs all over the world. IKO job board will show that. Obviously it is easier to get a job if you are level 2 as in any profession, experience counts.

Having worked in SA many times I can tell you there are plenty of opportunities for IKO Instructors there with a season from October through to April (Peak is Mid Nov to Feb)

What qualification you choose to get is personal choice and you will find some places prefer IKO some PASA, BKSA, VDWS etc.

In general IKO is more widely accepted but dont expect any organisation to hold your hand. People who choose this lifestyle job tend to move on after a season or 2, hence the continual vacancies shown. Moving on also gives a wide experience base as each area and school will have its own challenges, be it weather, location, language, equipment...

You wont get rich but you will have good fun and if you do it well you will get lots of good jobs not to mention, improving your own level.

Good luck.

Probably not a great career choice - but a good summer job for college students.
The sport is so extreme you will eventually suffer chronic injuries.

Ha! I don't really consider kiting an extreme sport. It can be taken to extreme levels but overall it's pretty "not extreme."Lol chronic injuries. You are too much.
