but really the best mount
for things not nessisarily related to kitin
is the 3/4 inch threaded adapter
cause then you can hold the gopro onto
real heavy duty
never loosen clamps and
DOUBLE suction cups
and all sortsa shiot!
go visit a real camera-pro shop
and you'll see what I mean
I'd like to see a motor cross helmet with a camera embedded in the chin! but kite surfing with a mouth piece is asking for trouble... i like my teeth and breathing while in water
nick14 wrote:Wow i thought that was a typo until i googled mouth mount and and found they actually exist...is this the strangest of the mounts??
they've been around for a couple years, it's just a mouthpiece you bite down on. i think it's perfect for sports where you don't want to wear a helmet and a chest mount just wouldn't work.... like surfing. the perspective is pretty good too, because it's close to eye level and not looking down off the top of your head
personally i like the line mount the best for kiting. the one i like the least i the kite strut-mount, such a useless perspective except for still photos like RickI takes
I like the line mount the best too. I would argue disregarding the strut mount though. Yes I don't think you want one as your primary, shoot all camera view. It takes some work (also editing) to get one dialed to deliver usable results. Primarily turning off the SUPER wideview on a GoPro. You look like an ant because the field of view is so large. It also brings the wingtips into the view, which I don't care for. If you change the FOV to medium and get the angle set correctly, it can yield some good footage. I do like the strut mount primarily as supplemental footage to more show cool geography like the slicks in Hatteras or the crystal clear water in Grand Cayman. It does highlight where your riding nicely and adds some perspective.
Does anyone on the forum have some input on the Skord mounts? They seem the ideal way to do a strut mount and eliminate the post editing, but $129?? That seems a bit high for what it is.
I do like well done 3rd person or backpack shots. I made one a couple years ago and it offers another cool perspective. I've found it's not great for heavy chop though......just too bouncy of footage.
Bottom line, there are tons of fun ways to record myself sucking at kiteboarding.......in HD!

Has anyone tried adding something to reduce the bounce? I was watching some footage from the helmet spinning mounts and they seem to reduce the bounce/vibration a lot.
I suspect if you attached some elastic cord from the counter balance to the helmet, the whole lot would act like suspension. http://www.gospin360.com/diy.php
If you added something like that (camera offset with a flexible joint, counter balance and some dampening) to the end of a 3rd person mount? It wouldn't need to spin.
