Returning to our roots with a ground up rebuild
5th Gen Razor Image
Quick, Agile, Explosive... Daunting

The all new, completely re-designed Razor answers the call.

Nothing less than a ground up re-design of our legendary Razor has produced an angry, explosive beast of a kite, delivering precise handling and explosive power unrivaled by any other kite.

Unhooked, the all new Razor's redistributed weight and design results in a forward flying kite offering massive pop and travel for air passes and critical, just in time landings. Back in the loop, the explosive power offers our most dramatic vertical boost ever engineered. Meanwhile, our radical re-thinking of the bridle and the all new Bridle Lock gives riders the right to choose locked out, old school intimidation or a free flowing, dynamic sheeting range.

The all new Razor is a radical departure from the norm; a synthesis of a decade and a half of constant improvement; a commitment to performance and a tribute to our roots. It's built with a specific rider in mind: step up or make way for those who will.

So I'm not sure I got this. You just tweaked It?

Seriously tho, apart from being really emphatic about it, how much is there to redesign.

I'm sure its changed up plenty, but its still a 4 line, 4 strut, rollover bridle with pulleys, C shaped freestyle/loop oriented kite with kinky elbows that works on the same bar as last year, in the same sizes.

Just you know, radically redesigned.

That fist five lines reads like a parody!

I got the new 10m to replace my bagged out old 2013...

i have only flown it in 12 knots on the beach, the kite feels lighter but mostly flies the same...

loops feel more constant and smooth with the top pullies locked out

the bar pressure feels a little bit more and it feels like it pulls just a tad more....we will see

right now going through a wind drought in florida, it was good up until march, its been a constant 12-14 knots for two weeks thou

I must say I agree with with you but.... not related to the Razor but the 2015 Airush Varial X is quite different IMO than the 2014 model. I was actually surprised. So I totally would believe the characteristics of the Ocean Rodeo Razor could be altered significantly.
I agree with you though, a lot of hype but hey, you got to hype stuff to get peoples attention. When it lives up to the hype thats when you know you have something awesome! The OR Razor is one kite I would like to try.

one thing i did notice but can't confirm till i get it in good wind is that it wants to fly fwd after being in the power zone more than the old one

i tend to agree about the hype thing, but this kite has a special place in my quiver, i have yet to find a kite i have more fun on....i rather be on a full on C kite, and probably would if i lived on hatteras, gorge or cape town, but i live in florida, so this is the best compromise power and C wise

Definitely one of the most powerful LEI kites per meter of fabric.

With a razor as your main kite, you can actually get away with a two kite quiver. 10m razor and a 7m Prodigy is a minimalist dream quiver for riders in the 175 lb range that have a bit of experience and the right boards.

Jespin- what bar are you using and how well does it flag out. My dual line north quad bar would not flag out the kite. I now use a naish universal and it works well flagging to one line. However, I noticed a signiifigent amount of power loss when switching 24m - 20m lines. I strongly recommend using longer lines. For me, it really increased the power and bottom end in exchange for a little loss of directness. The kite still turns as fast and pulls more in the loop. Let us know when you get it on the water.

I'm using a franken-bar

basically a switch bar, with a Low V and single line flag out, I've had a deathloop on my old razor and swore off double line safety

however i do have a Core sensor 2 bar that i want to try with the kite, its a mixture of double and single line safety

will report back when i have flown it in proper winds, which are 17+ knots for this kite in my eyes
