My friend told me there is something like 700 shark attacks a year in Florida. We have had 7 this year in NC. It's just hype.

700? LOL! Your friend is full of shit!

Florida led the country with 28 attacks in 2014…23 in '13.

There was a a couple of shark attacks when I was in maui, and speaking from my experience,it was always on my mind. When I fell in I was up in a flash!Still went out though, figured the odds were against me getting attacked. Still had a blast though! Funny how different it is when snorkeling,I saw sharks and actually followed them to take pictures.Something about those sneak attacks! Have fun! :dontpanic: :goodluck: :movingbutt:

The Great white shark's on the West coast of California , are Bigger
than the sharks you guys got in Florida and NC , (but there are less attacks).
Is that because a Great White is less aggressive ; or do they just don't like
the taste of human as much ; and there more able to identify us ?

We have whiteys also , bulls , tigers , and many others. I think the big difference between the East and West is there are a lot more people in the water on the east coast..

I agree. That's why New Smyrna is the shark bite capital of the world. It is really nerve racking at the inlet.

I saw a doco that was talking about the increase attacks around Maui. They were saying the actual number is much higher than documented as they dont count spear fishing attacks as they call them prevoked...i think i agree, seems pretty stupid.
