WTF? I live in Canada eh, we are metric, but even so I still refer to wind velocity on the water in nautical miles as that is the nautical standard.
I wouldn't know what to do with m/s.. but you don't see me complaining about having to convert it.

Get lessons and let your local school give you recomendations. Asking on here is crazy...too many countries with too many different conditions. Google kiteboarding lessons in your local area and give them a ring.

You're getting solid advice here, and now that you have a good grip on what setup should work for you, try to get down to your nearest kite spot and have a chat with the people there.

And welcome to kitesurfing, it's sick!
