I'll no, your no - that's your opinion Bushy. ;-)
I had a 5'2 VG & was not impressed by its low end & I prefer the Vader & now even more the Evo.
Buy them all (like I did) & decide for yourself.

bushflyr ,

thanks a lot for your answer ; you have undertood my situation and what i'm waiting for this firewire ...
in fact , my wind range is even more 10/20 nds ...and like u said never in big waves ...when there is waves i prefer to stand near the beach in smaller wave and enjoy kitesurfing in it ...

the second thing you have understood , i' d like to have the minimum quiver so i'd like to sell my nugget ; but the most important thing for me is to have the most quick planing .
Now i'm 75 kg , i want to be full planing in 10 nds of wind ...i sure i want 1 allround board

so i'm agree with you , the VG would be the best option ...may be i should buy a vader 5'1 ( which would be perfect for me ) later ...for the more windy days ...but , i repeat , in my region in belgium , 90 % is wind from 10 to max 20 nds so i must buy first a board for the most session that i have on a year .

if you consider the fact that i want it to replace my nugget 5'2 which is +- 29 l and 62 of width...
i hesitate between the 5'4 and 5'2 ...i know that 5'2 is normally the good size for my weight , but for my range of wind and to replace the nugget ...5'4 may be is much better ? or may be you will consider 5'2 would be the best choice and will start nearly as quick as the nugget in 10 nds ?

thanks for your answer :thumb:

Hi Tao, I had the 5'0 & 5'2 Nuggets - all the FW boards VG/VD & Evo have more rocker so won't replace your Nugget for low end - even in the biggest size FW you can get.
Maybe keep your Nugget ?

thanks topmick ,
ok ...so for you , even the 5'4 vg won't be as fast as the 5'2 Nugget on low end ? even if i put speed generating fins on it like machado ( ride number 10 ) medium like this one :
https://lunasurf.co.uk/futures-fins-rob ... blackstix/
i thought it will boost the VG no ?
in fact , i'd like to have only 1 strapless for low wind ...it's for severals reasons as the place which take the different boards , and mainly the fact that i prefer to kite most of the time on the same board to have lots of session on it and then to have quickly a best knowledge of the VG ...
sorry for my bad english ...

I owned the 5'2 VG & 5'2 Nugget at the same time & have not ridden the 5'4 VG.
Imo the extra 2" in length or speed generating fins will make little diff in low end.
It's the rocker & bottom shape of the nugget that allows it to plane at low speed.
The only way to fin out for yourself is to buy the board that you think will be best for you. If its not performing as you would like, sell it & try another.

i've just find this article which is very interesting :( it's a test of the 5'2 VG in nederlands ) ; sorry for traduction , use google traduction ...

http://www.versusshop.nl/blog/Review:%2 ... d%205%202/

i translate with the size to choose :

Welke lengte?

traduction in english (+-)

- which size to take ?
this test has been done with the VG 5'2. It's a short board but not too short if there is wind enough . there is 4 size ; if you have only this board , and then you kite with light wind , you will have pleasure on it until 6 bft ( that mean +- 20/25 nds )

5.6 - 90+ kg
5.4 : 80 - 90 kg
5.2 : 70 - 80 kg
5.0 : 70- kg

Als je al een lichtweer board hebt dan grosso mode als:

traduction : if you have another light wind board , than

5.4 : 90+ kg
5.2 : 80 - 90 kg
5.0 : 80- kg

so , if i resume , if it's my only board , than 5.2 is the best size for 75 kg
if i keep my nugget , than i can choose the 5.0

are u agree with that ?
so the 5.4 would be to big for me ( if i have only the VG )

Not sure this will help but I am 72kg and rode the Vanguard at 5'2" and it felt too big and floaty/bouncy for me in 15-25 knots with a 10 m kite. So it should be fine for you.
Now I am on a Vader 4'10" and it is way faster turning and more fun. Still planes up almost the same with the right technique.
Have not ridden the Evo.

If I were you Tao,

I'd get either a 5'1 Vader or Evo, you will loose a tiny bit of low end but will gain a heap of performance.

The VG imo, doesn't shine like the other 2 FW boards.

It seems that Firewire has discontinued the Vader both in Kite and Surf construction. The only kiteboards now showing on their website are the EVO and the Vanguard. Can anyone (Felix?) comment if that's the case or if it's a temporary thing?
