Im 217lbs and i bought a 5'8" FST to replace my 5'6" vg kite construction. I like riding the wave depowered though. The 5'6" didnt allow me to ride just with the power of the wave. I didnt feel like i needed the extra construction either.

Nice! Sounds like you got your hands on a custom Vader. To date, Firewire has only made the regular Vader available with LFT construction. The kite version comes with reinforced FST construction. Pics please! Curious on how the custom one looks vs production.

I'm confused on sizing. I'm 85kg advanced strapless rider at 5'10". I ride 5'8" Celeritas from 10-5kts on 12M and 9M to 6M as wind goes up. 4-15ft waves. I really enjoy snappy turns and airs.

So I'm thinking Vader in 5'3" over 5'5".

Any feedback?

As I look at shape and extrapolate if nose were like typical surf board, it seems like 5-6" is the difference for theses sizes. It's so hard without demo, but I have Barbados with 6-12ft waves coming before I could demo.

salvino- Go for the 5'3 Vader at biggest . The 5'5 will be a boat for your size and conditions.
Many guys make this mistake going way too big.
you will be stoked on the Vader.

Savino I'm about your weight and I ride the 5'3 vader in all conditions except very light winds then I ride Vanguard 5'6 or 6'2. I've ridden the 4'10 Vader several times and it's great just a little too small so a 5'1 would probably be great too since you have more than 1 board

As I said earlier I'm 6'6" and 100kg and the 5'3" is spot on for me, so I'd think the 5'1" might be your best option.

I've now ridden the 5'3" in light underpowered 10m weather through to powered 5m weather and it never feels too small. You can't try and think of it as being x inches shorter than your normal surfboard just cos the nose is cut off - the way the board works is really different. The length is just not comparable with traditional surfboards. So go smaller than you think and you'll be ok

At 75 kg / 165 lbs i prefer the 5´3" - maybe because I was also in 6-5 wetsuit, and the waves not as powerfull as in Hawaii (?) For me the 5´1 felt super small, but then again I only had limited time to try the boards.

A 5'1 Vader with some time to adjust to the size and correct fins and foot placement will be your money board.
I have guys riding 5'1 Vader's at 180# .
Comes down to what type of feel you like.
Top Hat weighs less than myself and rides a 5'4 VG and I would be on 5'2 same kite size.
Different stokes for different folks .
You like more float at your weight 5'3 is the max you should ride.
