Hood River Gorge

Postby gregfun » Thu Aug 20, 2015 12:41 am

Going to Oregon Portland next week, any advice on Oregon Coast kite spots close to Portland? Also going to Hood River - how's the wind been? Please recommend kite sizes..was planing on bringing 7m,9m,12m should that cover it? Also interested in doing some scenic downwinders if anyone is game?

Other than being hotter than normal, and lower water levels than normal this summer - the wind is here pretty much every day as long as you are willing to drive a bit. My quiver is 6,9 12 and it gets me kiting just about any day I am able to go. Today there is wind in the central gorge in the 20s and the eastern gorge with gusts up to 40 with not much wind on the coast. This weekend - gorge winds are forecasted to be light - but good wind on the coast. Coast downwinders have been very popular this summer. Particularly up around Fort Stevens.
