It looks like some of the shops are starting to get the new envy in stock. has anyone here ridden them and in particular how do they compare with the 2015 model with regard to wind range and upwind ability ?

I just got my 2016 12m, 13.5m, 15m. I'm hoping to give em a go tomorrow. Looks like light wind but worse case scenario I'll be on my foil board. Here's a couple pics.

Just rode them back to back with '15 model. Didn't notice differences with upwind or wind range. The canopy shape looked a bit different, but I dont't know if it was just my eyes...
I think that the main difference for this year is the bridle, which has can be set up 2 (or 3?) ways. Now you can tune the kite to turn more or less pivotally. I rode it with "pivotal" setting, and you really felt the difference. It was nice for freeriding, but unhooking with it didn't feel so familiar. Anyway I was told that with different setup it is totally same kite than last year.

I tried 12m 2016 envy last weekend.
I have 2012 12m NRG, and compared to it, envy was suprising fast. I think it is also faster than 2012 envy.
I have nothing bad to say about 2016 envy. But I prefer NRG because power is so smooth (and it slow of course).
The bar was 2015, I heard the chicken loop is the only difference to 2016. Swivel in 2012 bar don't work at all, it is poor. It was redesigned later and what a surprise, it didn't work in 2015 model. But you can untwist center lines rotating handle over chicken loop (it doesn't exist in 2012 and 2013).
Above the bar depower was very easy to use.

I had a go on the 15 and 13.5 yesterday. It was super fluky inland lake wind 9-14mph on average with 20mph gusts, so it was hard to really judge the kites in this wind. The 15 seemed nice and stable even in the lulls but I didn't have enough wind to really have fun with it on my twintip. I switched to the 13.5 and my foil board. Was cruising around having fun but the 13.5 seemed to suffer from some back stalling issues. It also did not seem to drift very well while trying to work my way back downwind. Both kites seemed to make good power during the power stroke but didn't seem to make any power during the turn which made it difficult to stay on plane during the lulls. These kites don't seem to work very well as light wind kites but I don't think they were designed to be. The super light wind relaunch is also not very good IMO. I do have a Blade Fat Lady that I use for light winds but decided to just test these new kites and see how they handled. Again, the wind was very weird and kinda just crap so I'm not going to pass any serious judgment on them yet. I'll report back when I get a chance to use them in some normal steady wind.

Good info so far although not yet convinced that it is worth the cost vs 2015 sale prices...now if we could get a LF demo day out at Hatteras we would be all set! I really want to try each bridle position back to back and see how it feels.

The kite feels basically the same in each position but it really does affect how much the kite pivots. The low pivot setting is a massive improvement over the 2015 for unhooking and high pivot setting will really be useful for guys that ride the Envy in waves. It still doesn't drift like the WOW but it takes most of the power out of the turns and really speeds the kite up by flattening the canopy shape. Most who are just freeriding however will just enjoy the kite on stock settings. The kite also feels a lot more solid in the air. Overall I'm super pleased with the updates and if cash isn't a big issue it's worth spending the extra. The 2015 was a great kite though so you can't go wrong.

I have a 6&9 2015 envy and a 2014 solo12m...not sure if I am going to keep the solo or get rid of it and go 12 or 13.5 envy...

We are loving the changes they have made to the new Envy. Check out our detailed review of the kite.

I have a quiver of 2016 Envy's and Solo's for demo if you're in Florida. I'm located in South Florida but I'll be heading up to Fort Pierce this weekend and Daytona and Jupiter in the up coming weeks. I also have a set of Envy's down in Key West if someone wants to take one for a spin. PM me if you want to try them out. It's a kite that speaks for itself.
