Just enough to allow popping out the PU tube without having to go through the hassle of undoing the webbing completely from its buckle and sliding the PU tube out the end when swapping. Still has more than enough friction fit to be secure. Pretty sweet to swap spreaders quick and easy without altering fit!
Starsky, this sounds like a good mod. What tool(s) did you use to open up the left ends of your spreader bars?

Crow bar. The wedge end, and a concrete floor. Just tapped it in real technical like!

Finally got to try my new Ride Engineer Hexcore harness. I like it. Fit nice. Comfortable. Stayed where I put it.

I couldn't find a place to put a knife. Am I missing something here?
If not, be curious to hear where you've found to put one on the harness. I love the minimalist design, but I do like a knife for emergency situations. I took a quick look before my session and didn't find any obvious pockets or slots for one, but I could've missed it.

CaptainArgh,
There's a tiny, well-hidden pocket in the spreader bar pad (on the back). I haven't put a knife in mine yet *oops*, so thanks for the reminder. :thumb:

Bit of a resurrection- I'm thinking of buying a 2016 RE harness - but my main past time is free ride/ boosting/ unhooking - so I would obviously be using the hook rather than rope.
Most of the stuff I read is in relation to waves and the sliding spreader.
Is it as good for boosting etc?
Currently using a mystic majestic and have had lower back issues for 2 years since buying it (maybe completely unrelated!).

Also, is there a suitably strong leash attachment point at the side of the harness rather than the handle pass bit on the back?
Thanks

I'm using the RE for the same purposes as you and yes it's great for freestyle/bigair, way better when riding overpowered. I never have a sore back anymore after an overpowered session. For the leash there's the D-rings on the side, they are 'ok', not great but I guess they'll do for a while. You can also attach your leash to the spreader bar itself on the front or on the hp leash attachment on the back.

If you get the Eezycut trilobite with harness pouch you can fit it somewhere pretty easy. Not cheap but it'll cut through almost anything.

looks like something your lines can wrap around. I don't think I would wear one of those. I have an original model made by Coleman and a Carbon elite back up harness. Just realized if I use that back up that I don't have a knife on me ! On my original I have one on each side of my dynabar. If I really need my knife and I drop it ? I have another chance !
