12m dice 2015

Postby atomic-chomik » Thu Dec 03, 2015 4:54 am

Hey anybody have any direct experience or thoughts on the 12m 2015 Dice. Trying to get anything realistic out of kite magazines and whats not is pretty canned eh. Anyways, i have a 2014 but its just not the kite for a 200 pound fella like me, too much work to get bottom end out of it(if at all) and not good at jumping at all. 50/50surf and free ride.

I own one! At 75 kgs it gets me going in 12/13 knots on a 5'10, cruising upwind comfortably. Sometimes I add 3m extensions on the 24m lines to improve the low end, as it does make a difference. For jumping/boosting nicely on my TT I need at least 15 kts, sweetspot is 17-18 kts I think - big floaty jumps, better than the 2014 I've heard. In the waves it drifts good, but not as good as my 2015 Dice 9m, which I absolutely love.

I really like my dices but for the bigger size I am now keeping my eyes open for a possiblity to test the 11m Neo - faster turning, same low end, better drifting. And apparently boosts pretty nicely too when powered up. Dice is better at unhooked, but I don't unhook, so that's why I might switch to Neo's.

2015 12m Dice + 200lbs.. unless your riding a really efficient board I`m guessing you won`t be having much fun below 16knts ...

i have a 2015 12 and 9m. what do you want to know about the 12m? I weigh around 200lbs ride mostly in pretty steady 15-25mph winds. I can ride in it in 15mph winds on my 140 SS vision. From my experience the Dice doesnt like to sail in overpowered conditions. It doesnt like to be depowered. It jumps nicely, unhooking is good and drifts well. The 2014 dosent have the low end like the 2015. I think the 2014 is a little better in the surf but doesnt jump as well as 2015.

If you are looking for low wind and are quite heavy then the Dice probably isn't your best choice as it is not that powerful. Unfortunately a lot of the waves kites are similar, fast turning but not that grunty.

Some kites you might like to look into and try and test out which are powerful but good on the waves:

Airush Lithium
Liquid Force Solo

If you like North, maybe look at the Neo, it is a little more powerful than the Dice or if you want a good jumping kite, the Rebel is powerful, great for boosting and super floaty

Thanks guys, I guess the low end of the kite is one of my criterion. As well, i was out on my 8m a bit overpowered and the kite really doesn't like that. Gonna be looking into the new Prodigy OR.

Yeah like I said, the Dice doesnt like to fly over powered. You should check out the Evo. I have a 2014 12 and 9m that I use for gusty conditions. It is a great all around kite, one of the best on the market imo.
