Did they change the production of the Premiumropes kitelines? The samples i got had a really flat crossection, more like 1x3mm for the 1,6mm line.
Both 1 mm and 1,6 mm are flat as new (around 1x2 mm for the 1,6). Probably they will get round after some use.

Had a sample of sk99 Liros DC161/DC pro that should be 160kg but could not get it above 130kg when spliced due to the fact it was a 8-strand line. DSM doesn't sypply the same thin yarns as the older SK-75 yet so the only way to get a thinner line than 1,1mm is to make it a 8-strand line and sadly that doesn't hold up to 12-strand versions when spliced.

On the 1.1mm 12-strand SK99 line i get around 300kg breaking strength when spliced so i didn't bother to take the 0.8mm one on stock as the difference in thickness i measure myself was too little too loose more than 50% breaking strength.

300kg SK99 line i have on stock: http://www.en.infexion.nl/shop/accessor ... per-meter/
Thanks, very interesting ; do you think that sk99 Liros DC161/DC pro are the 0.8mm diam that FS is describing, or do they use a grade that cannot be bought on the market ? It is really too expensive on FS website ...

Otherwise I will go for the 1mm, thanks Mitaka (but I do not need it and looking for the lightest weight possible and 130 kg would be enough on the rear lines for my weight, with few margin , I know but it works currently with 70 kg lines, so ...)

Even though this says SK75 in the link, it's SK99...Vadim (the owner) and I talked about this a lot and Liros doesn't make a 1.1mm line set with a 267daN break strength and this was labeled as such. Great stuff, really easy to splice. I used it for my front and rear lines, could feel an immediate difference when riding coming from a much thicker line.

Evan, which kind of splice did you make when break-testing it ? either a "double crossed" (autoblocking type) or a "simple path" splice (with the rope entering directly in the core of the other, FS type) because it will impact the breaking load of the loop.

BTW I am still surprised to find neither the FS 0.8mm SK99 line nor the Ozone 0.9mm Sk99 lines on the market. Shame. Otherwise I can go for 1.0mm SK99 for front lines and 0.9 mm or 1mm Sk75 or 78 on rear lines for cost saving .

Just a normal straight stitched splice of 25-30cm with a good tapered end, although stitching is not necessary for strength as the splice does not slip under load when it is this long.

Ok so indeed that is already the best you can do if your tapered end is long.
Normally you should reach higher than 80 % of the breaking load. That is strange.

Weird indeed because I get my SK99-500 line up to 622kg and the SK99-300 up to 321kg load when breaking at the tapered part of the splice with all tests well above the factory breaking loads.

I just bought some 1mm SK99 for the rear lines at premium-ropes, thanks for the link.

Still interested if someone if selling its "old" rear Flysurfer race lines set at a good price that would not be suitable for competition any more. Even broken lines

I found my 0.8 mm SK99 lines , great ;
Now I need to splice them and need tips !

My last 0.8 mm line I did a auto-bloquing splice (one line crossing the other and vice-versa like this :
Image
but result is not as strong ; so I would like a direct splice
( i.e. inserting the line in the core of the line along 15 cm like this :
Image

I regularly do it up to 1.5 mm lines but 0.8 mm will be tricky ; anyone of you already did it have having good tips (except usual guitar spring or D-splicer method) ? as far as I remember 4 years ago on pansh line, it was a nighmare with their thin lines extensions !

I have 0.62mm and 0.81mm Goodridge stainless locking wire left over from the days when I had to lockwire my motorcycles for circuit racing.

For thin rope splicing I've found that 0.62 is a little too flexible and 0.81mm works fine with 2mm Dyneema but I have never tried to splice 0.8mm Dyneema!

I would suggest that you take your rope to a nearby motorcyle workshop and try what lockwire they have then buy a short length from them.
