Hello everyone,
I am planning on departing (from UK) within the next few days for a 10 day trip (I know I left it to the last minute) and I would like your suggestions. I am on budget so I would rather not spend more than £400 on plane tickets. I am after a flat spot with consistent winds (my kites are 8m and 11m). I am not considering any european destinations so I do not have that many options left for the money. I am so far considering the following:
Dakhla Morocco - but I would rather choose something with more things to do as I am travelling with non-kiter buddy.
Aruba - I was reading about the spots on the forum and saw that are rules on Aruba's main spot (Fishermans hut) and that I cannot kite there between 10am and 4pm. So if I go there I would like to know if there are any other spots easily accessible with flat water that I can kite during these hours (I am experienced rider).
Barbados - although tickets there are a bit more expensive.
Also, I would be willing to hear any other suggestions on other possible destinations.
I left out spots like zanzibar or cabarette due to the weak winds (I read that I need 15m to kite there).
Any opinions on the above?
Thanks a lot.

We have the Angin " Barat" wind coming and starting.
The flat water area is on the left and waves can be found on the reef of the lagoon.
You will find return tickets+/- 400GBP to either Kuala Lumpur or Jakarta. Then it is a small hop from there with Air Asia +/-(U$30) or Garuda Air to BAnda Aceh. Here we have airport transfer (20 Min) to our spot.

Cabarete ... weak winds? June is one of the most consistently windy months in Cabarete. I have never used a kite bigger than a 12m there (I have been going to Cabarete since 1987). Winds in June should be perfect for an 11m & 8m. It is not a flat water spot, however (although personally I can't imagine why anyone, other than a beginner, would chose flat water over waves). Cabarete still offers the best bang for the buck (other than more distant destinations) & a "lively" environment. Aruba? Pretty boring IMO.

Yep, you are absolutely right, Toby is doing his tricks only on waves
He must be a beginner than!

Thanks for the replies guys.
Furteventura would be ace but I've been there before so I would rather see a new place.
I read about the weak winds on travel guides so not my personal opinion. But still that was just an example. Flights to Cabarette would be about £600 and same applies for indonesia (I would rather go Cabarette for the money :p ).
Has anyone been to Zanzibar? Does the same apply for that spot? i.e. weak winds are not actually weak?!
Really confused ATM.

Here's the current forecast:
http://www.kitexcite.com/wind-forecast/
Note that the general forecasts usually underestimate the wind in Cabarete because they don't take into account the local thermal.
In reality, you can get skunked anywhere - that's just the nature of things. Very unlikely you would get more than 2 or 3 no wind days in Cabarete in the summer. It is the most consistently windy time of year there. (BTW: I have absolutely no commercial interest in Cabarete at stake)

I can't imagine flying half way around the world just to seek out a "flatwater spot", but to each his own. I wouldn't go to Cabarete is flat water was a priority.

I think I am leaning towards Barbados! Looks sick and got tons of other things to do considering my non-kiter friend. I think it is worth the money. Has anyone been? Any opinions?

From the UK - you have so many options so much closer!!
Pretty much all of the algarve (portugal) has great kiting and lots to do for your non-kiting buddy. Look up Alvor. June not quite high season yet, especially if it's early june rather than late. Tarifa, Spain could also be good - great kiting, main beach open till June 15 (after that you need a car to get to the kiting beach), lots to do for your friend. Essaouira Morocco (though I'm not sure about season/wind in June). Even the north coast of Portugal should be getting into swing by then.
There's also Tunisia and Egypt to look into, haven't been to either. Turkey (probably super cheap right now!). Cyprus as well meant to have great kiting (again, check seasons/wind)
Cabarete has good kiting, but man that's a long flight for 10 days.
Frankly - I'd go to Portugal or Tarifa. Cheap and SHORT flights (a long flight for a week's holiday sucks), rent a car with what you save on flights, lots to do for your non-kiting buddy, and lots of small waves and wind for you.

About Aruba i should say there is no interdition on Fishermans hut. I work there the last 6 months.
Theres some shools there working all day, but you have plenty of space to ride on flat water.
Sideoff winds. But if you need a rescue, the boats are there to help.
If you want some waves just move to Boca Grandi. And there the wind is onshore.
Off course there's some secret spots with sideshore winds. But the best is book a trip in a kiteschool.
In my opnion and the best school to do it is AAV (Aruba Active Vacations). Talk with Miguel.
The best in Aruba is 2 or 3 days/month without wind!!! Always windy
