Replacement for Best Nemesis HP 2009???

Postby ZenSurfer » Sun Aug 07, 2016 6:36 pm

Hi. I am searching for at new kite series for replacement of my old Best Nemesis HP kites. I have them i sizes 6/8/10/12 and 14. What is the kite out there for 2016 and 2017 that comes closest to boosting high like my Nemesis. I love the exploding vertical, and the upwind and even the quick powerful looping that the Nemesis does - but Best dosent make them anymore :( I also surf waves, and dont have any problem with looping it instead for drifting "witch they dont do". I do not like wavekites so much, so dont bother with them :wink:

Wow dude, kites have improved...ALOT...since then. Ok lets take a different tack:

you like to boost, loop, and want it to be able to handle surf well?

Upwind and loop in the same sentence... Maybe you should look at a Core XR4? Naish draft? Just the loop part isnt there. But you can make any kite to loop. But once again you were using a 2009 kite. Exclude the upwind part and a hybrid c would be fun. Maybe a rpm? Core GTS3/4?

Yea, we all want a kite that does everything great but......
Maybe try the Ozone Enduro. Not a great name but a great all around kite for what you are asking.

I would try the following kites:

- North Evo;
- Cabrinha Switchblade;
- Epic Screamer;
- Ocean Rodeo Razor.

Al kites that can be looped and also jump extremely good. Go test them. ;)

Post up what you end up going with. I'm still riding my '08 Nemi!

Thanks for the inputs :D I will take a look at the different kites! I tried a F-one Bandit, I think from 2014, was in low conditons and even though it pulled my quit high into the air. For me the first priority is the boosting high and going upwind. Secondary is surfing waves though I do this alot I must admit ;) But as I told you, I have tried different wavekites with drifting karakteristics, and its definately not that way I wanna go. I have no problem with flying the kite radically with downloops and so on when doing cutbacks and bottomturns...
Yesterday I also tried a Slingshot RPM, very nice kite, a lot of grunt I think and very powerfull looping. The steering is very quick and with minimum bar indput. The sheeting in and out on the boom is very short compared to my Nemesis, but the kite definitely does not boost high. But absolutely a nice kite.
I am also looking at the Best Roca kite for 2016 and maybe will wait to se the 2017. The Best TS has also been on my mind, but I have this kite in 17 sqm. “and love it in light wind” but don’t know how the smaller ones are in high wind. Maybe somebody out there knows the Roca???

Might be worth checking out the Switch Nitros. I never had a Nemesis but flew the 2006 to 2008 Waroo's and had a Nitro 4 that reminded my a lot of my Waroo's but jumped better. Probably similar to your Nemesis.

Never used a nemesis.

I have best TS 7m and 9m (a few years old). They would probably fit your description pretty well. Very good for jumps and the jumps are pretty vertical on the way up, but with decent glide on the way down. They loop fast and with a good amount of pull. They aren't c-kites by any means, but the jumps and loops are not too far away. They don't drift very well at all, but if you are willing to work them they can be used in onshore waves (I doubt the larger sizes would work well). I like the TS enough, but don't love it. It's jumps are fantastic, though.

I have not used the Roca, but I heard it was similar to Kahoona, and Kahoona is exactly opposite of your description of what you want. It will jump well, but not explosively, it lacks power in turns, and over-all feels rather squishy. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Kahoona to a beginner, but I don't really like the kite.
