BTW, the Alpha series have rounded-for-safety, trailing edges. Futures put some texture on the face of the fin to prevent the humming you get with a rounded trailing edge.

I have the 4'10" vader, weigh 70 kg. Tried the Tri and Quad configuration while on a trip to Peru this past month. Agree with all the comments, but, i did prefer the quad set up. The waves were at times 2 - 3 m, and, this board is super fast. I should have been on a more traditional board with these conditions but nevertheless, it is a super fun board.

Anyway, they say plastic rides the same for a few months, then they loose spring.
Nope, they'll definitely still cut you. Been there done that. Also a rounded edge on the back of the fin is not going to make them any safer when you have speed and weight pressing you onto the fin. They'll just be slower

Plastic = flexy. It's easy enough to just test them in your hands. Go to your local surf or kite shop and buy at least some honeycomb or fiberglass fins.

Love the Stretch Quads on MPH boards for quads, the AM's or F4's Blacksticks for Thrusters. Most of the time I'd rather kite with the thruster setup especially on mph boards.

Own 2 vanguards, a nano, and a ridden the Vader a TON.

Mentioned before; Go on Aliexpress and buy a set of g3 and g5 thrusters and a set or two of quads, one size smaller than you would surf, and, if you're feeling flush, your regular surf size. Ride them all and figure out what you like. It's a lot better spending $25 a set for fins from China than spending $100 a set for the same fins with your current surfcrush's name on them to figure out what you like. Once you have a good feel for what you like then maybe splurge for some with the signature.

Yes i think AM1 futures or Pyzel are good choice. Am1 is more release, pyzel is more drive

Jesus Firewire surfboards are way overpriced in Europe (at least that Kiel shop spamming the thread) vs rest of the world.

I'm also keeping an eye on this thread for fins.
I'm tempted to start off with some cheap G3 honeycomb fins from Aliexpress only $22 and I can break a few :P

^^Do it. I used the blue G3's on my VG until I knocked one off on the reef then switched to G5's. The G5's seem a little too tight on the VG, they hold well but seem to take a little more energy to make really snappy turns. The Vader has more rocker than the VG, though, so may be better with a bit more fin. Going to swap back to the G3's for the next week and see if they really are better or if I was just having an off day.

Every damn fin thread needs this link posted because 1/2 the people here who comment on fins don't know what they're talking about.
