OR Mako Split Board?

Postby Beachboy » Sun Dec 04, 2016 12:05 pm

I've been riding the Mako since the first release (10 years?). No mater what other board I try, I just keep going back. So much fun in the surf. Keep wondering if the folks at OR are toying with a split board? Would be awesome!!

I asked them to do that years ago and they didn't want to!

I second the request.
Mako would be the board to travel with since its fun in waves but also on flats. Added to that it does not rely on flex as do many other TT's. So where other TT's suffer from the split the Mako would likely not...

My mako has very little flex (it is very old and design may have changed). This would make it a good candidate for a diy split board- wax paper on board, then lay up a bunch a carbon fiber in the middle by the handle, let it dry, bolt through CF and board, then cut board in half. Maybe I'll try on mine as I don't use it much anymore.

And just had 4 holes to install a hydrofoil and it would become the best choice for travellers or people living in narrow appartments... with the huggest wind range ever...
