Skywalk had those Jet-flaps on a PG a bunch of years back ; i have a skywalk chili
and they work great for landing, (Skywalk use to be the parent Co, of flysurfer) and
i think they went there separate ways .
As for using flaps on a kite ; can't see how they would be of any use ?
Are you talking about the zipper, to deflate a ram-air kite ?
Bille
Yep. Foil deflate zippers
Jetflaps were a good distinguishing factor, but I think they rather increased wing complexity, weight and production cost than helped aerodynamically.

My favorite is front line swivels that add weight and complexity but don't swivel, wtf?

YEP -- the jet-flaps worked Great on a PG ; totally useless on a Kite board kite !
I can deflate my 19M PL Venom, in under :1 min ; using that deflate zipper ; that
makes more time for : (
) !!

Dudes, the nature of innovations is that it is zig-zagging. Not everything will find feet...even really good ideas might have the wrong timing and not be a success.
That is not a failure on the part of the companies.
I would hate to see them stop trying to innovate. I've seen plenty of things in this thread that someone felt was a failure that I really liked.

They are just not reliable/lasting. Most sale posts of ARCs mention zipper condition.

tautologies, name a few. I challenge you to like Cabrinha's IDS, or high Ys, or unequal length lines, or leashes attached to the back of a harness (on the latter, I noticed instructors in South Africa showing students to do this, and they said it was the standard approach, although a few did attach the leash on the side at least - one reason to like the new short leashes, they will prevent this mistake for beginners).
I don't agree with the helmet comment, however, as I wear one pretty regularly.

Gotta wonder about the helmet comment.

I'll agree with Bille....zipper deflate was the best.. pointless innovation is the two velcro deflate openings...pain in the butt to pack quickly with approaching storm..especially using large ram airs
