Cabrinha, Airush or Liquid Force for first kite?

Postby sociii » Sun Apr 16, 2017 11:44 pm

Hi all,

I am looking to buy my first kite and I have been mainly looking into the Cabrinha Swiftblade, Airush Lithium and Liquid Force NV as my main choices. They all seem to be good on all disciplines which is something good since I am still new to the sport and experimenting.
What do you guys think is the best way to go and why?

I am open to other suggestion for different brands, etc.

Thank you.

Hi @dylan,

There is 15% off on any kite at the moment on the web-site I was looking at. So I am trying to figure out which one most people would suggest and why.

People's opinions aren't really going to matter much because it's all just personal preferences. The only objective advice I'd give you is that the NV is a little more flexible for all disciplines, it's awesome for wake riding, surf, has instant relaunch etc. Switchblade is a little heavier since it's 5 struts but still solid in pretty much everything. The Lithium turns the fastest, probably the best for waves out of the 3 and the weakest for big boosting.

None of this really matters at your skill level, it will take a while for you to figure out what you want out of a kite and you may or may not totally destroy your first kite anyway, it's all up to you. I'd suggest buying last year's model (or the year before that if you can find one) at a huge discount and use the extra cash toward a second different size kite. I just picked up a 2016 Liquid Force Envy 12m (now called the NV) for $700 from Real's last sale.

If you are a beginner, the switchblade is the best option in your list. The Lithium if you have a bit more experience.

Agree, Cabrinha also has best resale value of the three. I recently sold a 2013 Switchblade with bar in good condition for 500 USD.

I have had Lithium's for years as well as many other brands. I think this type of kite is great for a beginner because it relaunchs easily, is fairly stable, turns wuci but not squirrelly, has great low end power and when you get better self launches and lands beautifully. Many people think it's a beginner kite but I believe it's more than that and I've been kiting for 12 years and currently seek waves more than Flat Water lawn mowing. Great deals out there for leftovers.

From those 3 - i would go for cab. From cab you can have a look at FX.
If you consider other brands - north evo is great/versatile kite.

Liquid force NV has a lot of very cheap package including everything out there. so if $$$ is important check those out. for the price of 1 new switchblade without bar you get the whole package with liquid force include bar, board and harness.. As a beginner I tried to get a kite I could grow into but pretty much abused it so much it has not much resale value...
Never tried LF Envy but I have heard very good thing about it.
