Well I just had an expensive demo session at 8-12 knots with the added hindrance of tide / current going with the wind, and am instantly sold on the 13m Chrono V2 as a light wind kite. The one I demo'ed was the standard version but I'm unsure whether to go with the ultralight or not? Worried it may be less durable - expecting to need to self-launch and land at times.
Thanks in advance!

below 6 knots, it is a must. At 7-8 it is much appreciated. Relaunch should also be better if the light cloth does not wait too long in the water.

Yeah I saw that! Not a massive help to kitesurfing though, being able to fly and being powered on the water are two different things!

Definitely the UL... I've had both and the UL is incredible in light winds

If you are planning to go in winds as light as possible ie SUB 9 knots then the UL is the way to go. I was very impressed with the 15m UL and noticed the difference even though comparing to a 11m Chrono V2. The Chrono V2 is awesome but the UL goes into ultra light winds. With self launch and land you just need to take extra care to minimize any wear when dealing with foil kites. Carefully stalling the kite when landing i would think should have little wear. While the video showing the comparison between the UL and Standard Chrono V2 15m on snow, in sub 4knots, it is still very helpful in showing how the UL model goes to a whole new level.

Most people talk about the 15m for light winds but I thought the 13m was pretty great, I weight 65kg so ?stick with 13m or go to 15m?? Don't think I can afford the ultralight looking at costs...!

Definitely go for the 15m for a light wind kite.
I have the Chrono V2 and it's an awesome light wind kite - it seems to hover in the sky in just 5-6 knots but once moving it generates surprising amounts of speed - I can blast around doing 20knots on a hydrofoil when other riders can't even launch a 10m trip.
If you can afford it, I am sure the UL will offer even more low end performance. Personally I'm happy with the V2 and would want a more robust foil whilst getting the hang of foils - also going out in ever lighter winds, you get closer to the point when the wind switches off & regardless of what kite you have, you'll be swimming in. But the UL supposed not to fill with water as much as the V2.
Whatever you get, you'll be amazed !

Not sure about 15m - think the wind range for my weight is likely too narrow.

AndyLC, I would say you should be very cool with the 13m Chrono V2 at 65kg. I remember being out once on a LEI 13m and pushing the lightwind limits foiling, while another rider on the same foilboard and slightly heavier was on a 13m Chrono V2. When the wind dropped and my kite would not fly, the guy foiling with the 13m Chrono V2 was looking very comfortable jamming around. Play around with line length to get more low end/top end.
