Just seeing Sq's name gets the old time witch doctktor thrills started with follow up posts from Fo and Kitepower to follow - maybe even a Dr. Lightwave extraordinaire tidbit of wisdom.
.
Could Best at least come out with a new version of Cuban Fiber for us all to bash?
.
A moment to relive the good old days?
.
Shannon was pretty cool. Even paid off his bet of a free kite when I guessed the day he quit drinking. Or was it the day I didn't quit?

this is crazy. sorry to hear all this shitty news.

the 2006 waroo is a sentimental kite for me. i went from having constant kitemares to totally proficient in one session with that kite. that was a great kite.

Blame it on the hellish. It all started going south after that.

local kite shops will be around forever. The reason has nothing to do with economics and everything to do with lifestyle. It's like being in a rock and roll band. Most, I mean nearly every band out there loses money. You go look at how much they spend on their gear the amps, travel, hotels, and how much they get paid and for the merch they are not making money and usually losing money. Why? For the dream. Being a kite dealer is the same way. They aren't in it for the money but for the dream. The dream is to kite every day and earn your living while doing it. Even if brick and mortars lose money, a new shop will open up every time an old one closes down. This is a lot different than say, how Amazon killed the local book stores. Now I know there are a handful of people out there that their dream was to operate a book store, but most people, that's just not their dream. So when it quit being economically feasible for book stores to stay open they just shut down and nothing replaced them. Restaurants by the way are the same. Most restaurants lose money, and the only reason people start them up is for the dream of operating your own restaurant. So any time a restaurant fails, there's always a new one that opens up in the same spot ready to try it. Kiteboarding is not just economics, it's a rock and roll dream. There will always be brick and mortar. Don't know anything about the economic situation at Best, I'm waiting for more information there.

I can confirm that Peter has left, he told me personally this week. Maybe everyone else there should leave and start again, and do it like it was four years ago before the current owner got involved.

Great service, great kites, great prices and good times. Seems like so long ago.
looks like finally official on FB?

Life is great. Back in the water from a long injury. Still messing around on KF having fewer silly discussions but.....every now and then some entertainment is due.
Stoked to see you back. :thumb:
Are you involved with the Kite industry?

It bummed me to see this thread. I really liked how you guys built it early on...I think I must have bought 14-15 best kites in the early days.

I just ordered a 9M Roca from a dealer I know. Now I will have a 17-12-9 I figured that was a safer move than online. That is such a shame Best going under the Roca is a phenomenal kite for Big air/ Old School.

I have been riding Best kites for 10 years almost I also have fond memories of my waroos back in the day!

The new name is kind of ridiculous.. marketing and image is an important part of selling kites...
