BRM Cloud control system

Postby diogovilla » Sat Aug 05, 2017 3:08 pm

BRM CCS is the best control system I have ever tried because of two main reasons:

1) Safety (72cm of depower throw travel, one step full disconnection).
2) Comfort (no other system brings the bar so close to the body).

My question is: How would YOU improve the Cloud connection system?

I made my own setup based on the CCS. Gave all details and ways of use some thought. Concluded that the bar ends and way of winding up lines did not make full sense to me. In case of a self rescue with lines under tension I would have problems winding up the lines. Despite of the kiss principle I would consider it an improvement of some form of bar ends would be attached..

For the rest? Perfect, well thought through bar.

I've always planned to add a swivel, but I keep putting it off because its never been an issue. I wonder how the front line flag out will work if I let it get too twisted.

Pay $450 for a bar with a some drilled out parrell balls with stainless pins and shock/bungee cord?

Don't. Think. So.

I did never own one. I only do frankenbars... I did however try a BRM CCS of a colleague. Surprisingly light stick. Nice light feel compared to the heavy North ALU sticks I use..

I made my own CCS type bar, so I've added bar ends & a stopper ball so that when I let go the bar is just within reach.
Works perfect for me.

I wouldn't buy this bar because:

1- No swivel: I kiteloop all the time and need to untwist my lines a few times per session. I also want to untwist my lines before selflanding for safety.
2- No safety leash: The second QR seems independent of the first QR meaning that you may let go the kite completely if you inadvertently pull the second QR during a maneuver.
3- Not easy to re-attach in the water: I sometime need to remove my chicken loop and leash in the water because the lines are tangled. A chicken loop is much easier to reattach than this system.
Also USD 450 seems steep.

I looked at this video to understand the product: https://youtu.be/CDhBvCFhT9A
