low aspect,short/fat , fast turning quick relaunch good drift easy to fly.
High aspect, slow tuning great upwind and boosting speed machines, harder to relaunch.
race kite edge R1, Sonic
Any other kite sits somewhere in the spectrum. No matter what the sales man tells you, you cant have your cake and eat it too. If one kite is a better booster than the other it will be higher aspect. If one kite drifts better it will be lower aspect,,, but it will also go upwind worse.
And yes before all the brand ponies jump in there is more to design than just aspect ratio. All other factors being equal these facts stand.
Find the kite that's suits your level of boost/upwind/drifting requirements. These days you will find kites in every increment across the spectrum.
Me? I start of high aspect for light winds, Ozone chrono, then Edge, Then I step to mid aspect in the midrange, catalyst (old style) then low aspect reo, for my tea towel kite ono
The Carbrinha drifters I had I couldn't get to jump to save my life
Found them easy to jump good height but not a lot of hang time, and they dropped me like a rock needing aggressive redirects and loops for soft landings. 9m and 10m I've ridden, but the wind was up so it might have been the conditions . . . never had any joy jumping Pivots though
I ride Wave kites, the Airush Wave. I do little 'Wave' kiting and as far as I can tell there is no disadvantage!! I can jump as high as anyone else, it doesn't drop me, I can kite loop it, ride as far upwind as anyone else, I don't see any disadvantages...
i have a BEST Cabo quiver and fumkin' love that kite!
are there kites out there that jump higher? i bet.
kites out there with better depower? probably not.
if you surf waves get a wave kite, if you ride freestyle strapless get a wave kite, if you like low bar pressure get a wave kite,
if you like boosting to the moon without hassle on a tt get a freeride kite.
just my 2 cents.
and because i love this clip of the Cabo im gonna share it with you guys ; )
