North Neo 2012 stupid question ..

Postby tmbt » Wed Aug 23, 2017 3:04 pm

.. how do you fold the kite after use ?

I'm asking because this particular kite/year has 6 little plastic rigid sticks in the kite. 4 are perpendicular at the end of the trailing edge and 2 are oblique near both side of the leading edge.

Now .. i tried to fold it rolling it from one side to the other or fold it in half and the roll it without luck.
No matter what i do when i finished roll the kite i cannot fold it in the middle to fit in the bag because this fu***ing rigid sticks at that point (in particular the oblique ones) prevent me to do that.
Should i insert and remove the sticks every time i use the kite ?

Thanks
Mattia

Those 'sticks' are called battens.

Like said above: fold in three.
I would just add: be careful when folding. If you fold too close to a batten you may damage the kite.

I don't know if the batten layout is similar to the 2013 Rebels, but I had the same problem and it took me a while to realize that if I roll up the kite keeping the roll aligned to the trailing edge, then I could easily fold it into 1/3's and fit it in the bag. If I rolled it up aligned to the leading edge, the battens would be staggered and I couldn't fold it into 1/3s which prevented it from fitting into its bag easily.

That's the trick right there.
