New Samsung Smart Watch now waterproof

Postby Toby » Wed Sep 06, 2017 11:32 am

Just saw a commercial from Samsung from the latest fair...they said their new smart watch is now waterproof.

Now it becomes really interesting to connect it with the jumping devices like Woo, Piq and Xensr.

Who is going for it?

Not with Samsung watch but I've have had my Sony Smartwatch 3 connected to Xensr for a year. It works nice although if you don't lock the screen water splashes are a problem (changing screens). I'd imagine it is the same with Samsung that if there are water drops on screen touch UI is not going to work well.

Technically it's water resistant not waterproof, rating is IP68 which is max rating but doesn't specify how deep it's water resistant at. That rating is mostly for rain and shower, but not meant for swimming, manufacturer is suppose to test how deep it's resistant at.

Personally based on that I wouldn't get it unless there are good feedback, it looks neat compared to the Nixon mission, suunto ambit, Garmin and such who are waterproof (i think)
