While I don't disagree with the well-intended and wise suggestion that we in Florida should take this storm seriously, I'm confused by the images posted. What exactly is the first one? If it's supposed to be a depiction of what Irma might look like on Sunday (today is Wednesday), it's very speculative this early in the game. The second depiction of model paths does not look like the latest from the National Hurricane Center, released at 5 pm today (and easily accessed online), which shows the storm tracks on the eastern side of Florida.

I'll continue to monitor the National Hurricane Center's updates. It's all well and good to be prepared and plan ahead, but the media (especially social media) and our state's Governor tend to be counterproductive by whipping up mass hysteria without any good scientific support. We saw it last year when Hurricane Matthew was projected to hit Florida directly and be "worse than Andrew" (which destroyed South Florida over a decade ago). Matthew was a non-event except for some flooding on the east coast of Florida. Let's prepare, but let's don't get hysterical. Just my 2 cents.

Irma is like a kite junky-- visiting the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Cabarete, N. coast of Cuba, Miami, and maybe OBX.

This one is extremely dangerous, packing 200 mph winds. When you get the orders, absolutely everyone will be leaving at once...

Bille, the magnitude of the storm isn't speculative at all. It's colossal. Worst ever. But it's speculative to think any one knows where it will be located 4-5 days out.

sure let's just evacuate 21 million people in 3 days what could go wrong ;(

anyway nobody knows where this storm will go and the cone of uncertainty is over 300 miles wide and 700 miles long over the next 3 days so where do you suggest the 21 million people go?

its a personal decision but ofcourse be safe be prepared and plan for the worst... and kite hard

It's America. Go for a road trip as far inland as you feel like, Alafuckingbama(My cousin Vinny  ) or something. It's going to be a mess, like 1935.
