I had planned a trip to Puerto Rico for this month. Can anybody from the area inform us. Is PR far enough along in the recovery process to begin to accept visitors? Thanks. Certainly don't want to put any additional burden on the recovery effort.

I just talked to one of my good friends from PR. He has a house close to Shaks and San Juan. Most of the Island still has no power. Many roads are closed and the main highway from Isabella to San Juan is packed. The usual 2 hour trip now takes 5 assuming you are leaving at 4am. Cell phone coverage is slowly coming back but internet is still very limited. Not sure it is a good idea heading over there just yet.

I read 70% of the population is still without power.
I would not go now. Still needs time to get back.

Man, I could not imagine the issues down there after watching our issues here in Naples, FL. Even tho we took a direct hit it wasn't even close to the stuff I saw down there, not even comparable.
I feel for those people so much. I would def not go down there, sorry bud, but they are in for months of struggle before they probably ask for visitors at best. When they start asking for visitors I'd consider it.

Its a disgrace that the richest nation on earth won’t take care of its citizens, much less save them in times of natural disaster.
