Do the direct / super direct setting options on the leading edge have an impact on turning?

Haha not ranking on anyone but I never really get stoked on valves and stuff. What matters is how kite flies and if suits your style not dump valve haha

Found the top end of the XR5 12m yesterday. A squall came through and at about 28 knots I had no more depower available either in the bar throw or trim. Kite was well behaved and manageable, however any more wind and I would have been dragged down the beach and having to hit the safety. A bloke landed the kite for me and the squall increased to close to 40, so it was a close call.

So far my pros and cons for the kite...

Cons:
Needs a longer depower throw.
Slight delay when you initiate a turn.
Heavier than I expected.
Expected better drifting - but it is a five strut kite.

Pros:
Very refined.
Doesn't misbehave.
Excellent up-wind.
Drifts better than my previous Rebel.
No power spikes, so it makes strapless very easy in choppy conditions.
Solid canopy - why I like five strut kites.
Build quality - I'm in love with the leading edge material .
The bar/line system is simple, effective, clutter free and just works to the point that you just forget about it and ride. - still undecided about the QR.
Quick to set up.
Easy relaunch.
Reasonable wind range.

Trim amount available above the cleat is not much....only 4 1/2 inches......so "total" 24 inches...on Sensor 2 S bar...(just measured it)
Y-pulley distance to top of cleat with no trim is 10 1/2 inches...trimmed all the way is 1 1/2" distance to top of cleat = 9 inches....divide by 2
Core trim system will shorten the front lines 4 1'2 inches

Chicken-loop said he was trimmed all the way in 28 kn of wind.....so.......

Here is what i do since since the bar can be pulled in close to the body to power up because of compact rotor QR
Slide up the bar floats and lengthen on the knots the back lines all the way out....equals 2 3/8 inches ( 6cm )..the kite will still fly great...XR5 don't like to be chocked..let it breathe
Effectiveness of depower will increase similar as if the depower trow was longer or trim was longer

Want even more depower effect
Put the back lines at wingtip pigtail all the way out ( longer )

Want even more depower effect
Move the pigtail itself on the wingtip the the central position instead of all the way out to the tip...tiny bit more bar pressure...but kite will open up more sheeting out to spill wind
