2017 Kite Sales
Does anyone know when the 2017 model kites go on sale? And what kind of deals will happen? Looking to upgrade...

Don't you know that since the new 2018 models have been released all 2017 model kites are now obselete?!?!
Genius kite designers all had their annual simultaneous revelation in kite design!
Now all the wingtips are slightly different/better, the leading edges are thinner but also more durable, and the bridles have been simplified to turn faster and relaunch easier. Bar pressure is now all medium to light and better than ever. The latest bars are better too, the depower has been moved from below to above the bar (or vice versa depending on where it was in 2017)!
Even those stupid 2017 graphics are out-dated, if you get caught riding with one you'll never get to be a pro doing tricks like triple-mobe-double-handlepass-to-blind-with-double-kneebraces at 25 years old, riding in a Brazilian lagoon with 220 other people.

To answer your question it's usually January, some places are doing 25% now but it increases post-holidays.
Don't forget about ikitesurf (great selection, not lots of deals though), ebay (decent selection, occasional deals), or local/regional craigslist (very poor selection, can be amazing deals).

right you are going to miss out on new colors and graphics!
Plenty of brand already have sales going on, you can see already 15 to 20%, I guess on black friday we will see some 25% and next year a bit more, some brand have more or less discount.
There are even a bunch of 2016 kite out there new. if you look for something popular like an all rounder they are mostly gone but freestyle, wave, lightwind and such have plenty on stock.

...and your local Facebook group. I frequently see the most ridiculous deals on “used” gear because some beginner went all out after their lessons and for whatever reason has had a change of heart. The other day I saw a virtually unused quiver of 2017 Rebels (7,9,12) with clickbar for 2000 USD. So plenty of opportunities/idiots out there..
