How hard is it to get someone to film you ? Well if you can wait two years, have money to spare and no friends to film you I guess it is worth it... Sad.

as for how hard is it to get someone to film, where windmaker I dunno how it works where you live but where I live, if it's windy and sunny you ain't gonna get anyone to make viddies everyone will be riding!

Zero way I can justify about $1,000 for this setup, but still looks great. For $1,000 I can set up 5 or 6 cheap gopros get more POVs but I still wouldn't mind having a soloshot.

About having someone filming you, you don't really need it if you have a semi offshore setup with a slick.
my buddy just setup an iphone or gopro on a pole in an offshore slick:
sand bar
lagoon
pond
bassin
small island offshore.
inlet

In those setup you pretty much always jump exactly at same spot so you can setup a static pole, after a while you learn to setup camera right and jump at right spot. a few times it doesn't work or you boost too big ;(

now if it's straight up onshore wind i guess that's useful. or for Toby because he travels quite far during his trick though eh could place camera slighly better.

lol, if only it were that easy. Pretty rare for me to get conditions that good. Also no matter how well you set up, it's nice to have a cam following you, as the background changes when you pan while following the subject. It's a great device no doubt. What would be great is to have 2 soloshots so you can switch camera angles that would be even better.

Who says it is easy to get someone to film you only films few times.

Just had this discussion with the Spaniard who is known to be the oldest one doing some fancy handle passes...he used 95% of his session to explain someone how to film.

And trust me, pretty sure the only one filming that much with a soloshot in kite surfing...this thing is good.
Forget go pro or fixed cams. Not the same. For a bit it is excellent and for most efficient enough...but if you want to film a lot, a soloshot is a must.

Testing the SS3 currently. Almost perfect...like a cameramen...but have a problem with shaking videos...need to see what I can do to fix it...or which software can fix it.

If I can solve this, it is the best you can have to film you more than just few times.

I depend on it...I could not have done what I did.

Toby there are really fantastic stabilization features now. Sony Vegas Pro (the fx is called "stabilization") is the one I'm using right now and it can reduce the shaking to zero. Software stabilization is really good right now. You can't really use it on fish eye lens or while zooming though because everyone looks like it's seeing through a blob of jello, has to be a flat lens.
