I took the time to make a 30 s clip showing the shaking that is typical. I would like to upload it directly. Toby, is it possible to upload directly? Or must I upload first to YouTube (or other) and then use the link?

That indeed is great footage!
No shaking at zooming whatsoever.

How long does your battery last ?

I am getting about 90 minutes. It has a habit of going flat and not saving the current video footage properly. So it won’t play it back. The file name is there but contains zero bytes.
I have recently bought a external USB power bank.
Which will give me some extra battery life.

the wind protection is the least problem. When the massive lense moves in and out for zooming, it shakes...too much weight on top.

@jakemoore - I built a bucket type windprotector for mine. I used a light plant bucket and cut holes for the screen and the lens. I was hoping to mount it to the round metal mount where the tripod connects, but realized (duh) that doesn't spin and since my bucket wasn't completely clear, the bucket needed to spin with the camera. I chose to mount the bucket to the base just below the screen. This worked and helped a bit, but not enough to make the zoomed video usable. It's still too shaky and it made setup a lot more annoying. I gave up on it and have gone back to trying to find the most protected location for the cam. I disagree (respectfully) with Toby in that wind IS a big problem. The zooming in and out is not what's completely destroying my video. But I agree with him that the weight of the 65x lens is too much for the tilt mechanism. I'm really not sure there's a software solution for this shake. I really don't know if there is enough processor in there to do some massive image stabilization and I doubt the sensor is fast enough for it.

I typically use cams to shoot video and then pull stills from the video as I really dislike working with/editing video. I can see the distortion caused by the cam shake in each consecutive frame as I'm going through them. Even with software stabilization, the focus would be compromised. But man, I really hope they find a way to solve this as it would be rad for this to work awesomely.

I like the idea of a full clear housing but haven't been able to figure out how to manage the weight of that as it would need to be large enough that the 65x lens at full extension wouldn't hit the glass and it would need to be optically really clear and clean.

I'm curious if a rubber band or something tight around the upper arms of the base where the cam is mounted might help a bit, but I wouldn't want to burn out the motors if it was too tight. The 25x has MUCH less shake so I'm sure it's a weight issue and the swing arm of the heavy glass sticking way out in front of the mount point. If anyone finds a workable solution, share it!

From what I keep on reading the thing is fundamentally flawed for kiting in mid to high wind conditions: the hardware seems flawed and unfixable, and the software is still buggy as hell from what I read, and it’s almost a year after release.

A potential solution might be the Soloshot Pro, which would allow to use a different videocam, and there are plenty around that are cheap and with outstanding zooms and optical image stabilization. Still, Soloshot is saying this will come end 2018 or 2019, which considering their track record means I won’t be holding my breath.

I’m sad because I really, really wanted this to work.

My Sony cam with its steady shit stabilization works perfect in whatever wind.
Had it without any wind protection filmed shake free in 35 knots.

No need to get the pro if they release the camera adapter...will be much cheaper than the pro.

In the Soloshot Forum a guy posted this:

Assume you are turning on the new antishake mode put on about 2 updates back. I recently shot at range 3-400 meters 35-40 knots all footage useable

One thing that has been useful is mounting a GoPro in the hot shoe mount of the camera. That way I can get wide angle and zoomed at the same time. It doesn't do anything about the shaking, though.
