F-One handle insert distance

Postby BernieTomic1 » Tue Dec 12, 2017 9:46 pm

Image

My F-One handle broke at one side without any particular stress to it.
It appears as if standard insert distances could be 18, 20 or 22 centimeters.
F-One inserts turn out to be at 23,5 centimeters, meaning I can not use any of my spare handles.

Same thing with fins, where the F-One Unibox system means I have to use F-One fins.

Any opinions about this strategy?
Is it only about getting customers to get spare F-One parts?
Is the handle built to break, while having to be replaced by a F-One handle?

I use Core and it’s the same. Their foot straps only work with their boards, their pump isn’t compatibility with some other brands either. Same for fins and screws if I’m not mistaken. It is what it is. Manufacturers prerogative.

My main industry gripe isn’t over cross compatibility between products or even perceived price gouging, like selling boards for $1000 a pop. It’s the ocean of unnecessary choice and confusion, especially for newcomers to the sport who want to get new gear. So much excess it makes people dizzy.

Use a piece of gardenhose. Slightly longer than the distance between the inserts.
Problem solved.

Make sure to use metric garden hose though. Hear the French F-One systems won't work with Imperial hose.

My friend lost his handle on fone trax a d was able to buy an offbrand one at a local shop in the US, I forgot what brand it was. It t was in stock in kiteshop when he was taking lessons.
Fins are an issue... i broke a bunch but was lucky enough to alternate fin side, eventually I broke the board so that solved the issue ;)

If you're finding the fact that F-One is forcing you to only use their own parts ridiculous, I'd pay to see your face when you'll hear the prices...

Up here in Canada there's only one F-One distributor who goes "above and beyond" when you're getting in touch for complete kites or kite quivers, but when it comes to parts, service or warranty claims - his response time inexplicably skyrockets... How about 8 months to get a warranty replacement board pads? Anyhow, if having to deal with that character wasn't pleasant enough, what F-One charges for parts makes everything a very special kind of bitter. So at one point I blew it and sold of every single piece of F-One gear that I owned, including a very good Manera harness.

It's great to be able to choose.

Contact your local F-One dealer. It is a known problem and they are have been replaced free of charge with stronger handles.

Maybe in France. At some point I was looking for replacements pulleys and what most shops in Europe (at the time) were selling for 12-15 euros, I had to pay 45$CAD through our distributor. :angryfire:
