Saw the new CS Freeride today, tried one for size, at 32 inch waist the Medium felt about right. like the new ratchet system, haven't seen the CS Wave yet, but the ratchet system for the rope spreader looks different, can't figure how it works ?

Exactly my question too. Hopefully Dan sees this and will enlighten us.

Sorry for the delay in responding... Was out for a few days. Here's a photo of a production CS Wave harness spreader along with a replacement C Bar with standard hook just under it. You'll note that the attachment is different. The replacement hook ships with the clip so if you get a CS wave and a replacement spreaderbar all you'll need to do is unthread both sides and rethread the new spreaderbar and clip and you're good to go.
I know Ion did a ton of work trying to get the rope spreader bar to work with the same ratchet system as on the standard CS spreader bar, but the two options we came up with (1. shorter rope, as in our 2017 Wave harness and 2. metal slider, available as an accessory for our normal C-bar) weren't exactly the interface our riders wanted. Though the new clip gives up the ratchet-ability of our standard C-Bar our testers have been really happy with its performance. If anyone gets a chance to test/ride/purchase this harness please feel free to chime in with your thoughts.

In another photo of the wave rope spreader bar I noticed a hole in the middle (rope is covering it in this photo) what is the hole for, a single pivot style rope connection, BRM style?

Thanks for the pic. How is the CS Wave spreader opening and closing?

Thank you Dan, for the photos,
I'm guessing the two metal pieces are hooks that "hook" over what looks like a metal pin. ?

Alford-
I'm not sure what you mean by "single pivo style rope connection" or BRM style, sorry. I moved the rope to get another photo, I don't see any hole in the middle.
Either I'm looking in the wrong place or perhaps the photo you saw was of a pre-production prototype... They may have weird holes/seams for a variety of reasons.
On another note!!! For anyone looking to add a "standard" hook to the CS wave harness, it's easier/cheaper than I thought... The spreader bar has screws in the back and holes in the top to accept the standard replacement hook, no need to buy an entire replacement clip/spreader bar, though that will work if you really want the ratcheting action of the standard C bar. Some photos describing what I'm talking about below.

If you need further clarification let me know.

Dan, while we're at it - does CS Freeride come with a different spreader than other models (Vertex, Apex)? It looks a bit more compact - or it might just be me...
