I got very little if any cartiledge left in my ankles from kiteloops ( had MRI). Also another MRI showed partly herniated discs and neck arthritis...I am sure this was whiplash from kiting kiteloops too...

My ankle break was doing a strapless air with grab out off a wave and back into it.. I came in fast and very hard, landed and my ankle rolled on the board. The sinusoidal ligament connecting my tibia and fibula sheared off too which is very common with this injury. I had transitioned to more strapless as I really did think it was lower risk and wanted to slow down my riding a bit with age. #fail I was so gutted as I was on real roll enjoying the strapless freestyle progression having learned most of the tricks apart from doubles.

I think airtons strapless 313 is the best thing ever done in kiteboarding. I am just back on the water now hacking waves again kiting and surfing.. thankfully! As for full impact kiting again... Errrrrr hmmmmm

Damn... that sucks. Hope he has a quick recovery and gets back on the water soon. I’m 6 months from a fractured tibia and still can’t ride yet. The most painful part is watching others ride while you can’t do anything.

Looks like an injury you get riding straps.

Be interesting to find out. I did same thing riding strapless though.
