Paint for ripstop

Postby jorg » Mon Jan 15, 2018 4:20 pm

Hi everybody
We are about replace one small panel on the wing due to a damage. I would like to trace small graphic (switch logo) and make it seamless swap. Can anybody recommend a durable paint that can be applied on kite fabrics?

cheers :D

Am I wrong with saying the graphics is screen printed?

Sorry no I cannot, but, I would go to an art supply store or check art supplies online, ask in an art forum too...

Any other base of paint is going to denature the fabric. Nylon is very difficult to dye, and needs an acid based dye, but that has strength problems, best stay away.

... the fabric. Nylon ...
Unless the OP is planning on using uncoated nylon ripstop for the panel patch, inflatable kite canopies are pretty well all made with polyester, because polyester ripstop is stiffer than nylon ( material's modulus of elasticity, polyester compared to nylon ).

Not sure about the coating applied to the fabric after weaving for UV and air permeability resistance, suspect the coating is likely a flexible urethane.
