So why did he go for the Pivot and not the Torch?

If Pivot works that well, why have the Torch ?

Maybe the Pivot loops smoother with less vertical pull ?

The Torch is more wakestyle oriented, i bet the Pivot jumps higher and has more hangtime. Probably with also a best windrange that helps in that conditions.

Was a cool to see the development of the King of the Air from last year. I think more guys will be going to straps next year and possibly hybrid kites and we will see a lot of unhook mega loops too.
I personally thought the final should have been Langeree, Hadlow, Richman.

Agree those 3 riders looked the best overall. Couldn’t quite see how Lewis beat Jesse Richman in the semi to be honest - judging was a bit weird there. Hadlow just had a bad round and wasted time losing his board, otherwise he would have probably gone through too.

Exactly!!! It also happens to be the riders I like the best.
Hadlows style. Richmans all out gnarly power riding and Langerees combo of those.

Could not be more pleased that Kevin won. Not only did he deserve it, he is a really nice guy, friendly even to an old fart like me on the beach. And a major plus that he showed the world what the Naish Pivots can do. I bought my first one (2015 9m) because of the original thread on them here, and then a 2016 7m which is an awesome kite. Some of my friends have them now too, and are very happy with them. They truly do everything well.

I was also very disappointed that Jesse Richman dropped out when he did. If he dropped out because others had more height, I think they should re think the weight of the criteria. Actually I thought the level appeared to be dropping a little bit in the last rounds and final, maybe because the wind dropped. For me, Hadlow just disappointed yesterday. He didn't have the height a lot of the others had and although to his big credit, and unlike quite a few others, he tried to adapt and do new stuff, he just didn't manage to land a lot of those tricks. Just a bad day I guess. For me the final should have been Whaley, Richman, Langeree. A deserved win for Kevin.

Damn shame Marc Jacobs threw his boardoff boogie loop just outside the timer with liam! Would have been interesting.. marc's potential megaloop kgb factor in the final combined with the boardoff boogie loop.

If they drop height it becomes freestyle. No thanks. We have a whole tour for that.

Marc didn’t have the height. He has the potential like Aaron...loops, passes, Boardoffs. He can do all.

Kevin has a handle on his Monarch, there was even a video showing when he screwed it on. Not sure if he used it every time. For his classic board offs without loop definitely not.
