Can someone explain why my leash carabiner is opening after doing unhook tricks?
Sometimes i perform a powered unhook trick where i don't land it,, i can't catch the bar, and my kite flies away. How can i prevent the carabiner from opening?

Yeah that sucks, big time. Fortunately there’s an easy solution for that and it’s called duct tape

i try to stand away from ghetto solutions even thought they are very valid and effective.... style and image is very important in kiteboarding

I have never had the bar end of the leash become detached like that, but I have a similar issue (which is of no help to you whatsoever) whereby if I crash hardish, fairly often the leash emergency release attached to my harness fires off without me knowing it, and then when I unhook and drop the bar.... it's swimming/ running time as the kite disappears into the distance.

You could try swapping the carabiner for one with a screw locking gate.
These can be safer as a line cannot accidentally clip in either.

f--- that leash. Get a new one. Something is wrong about how that carabiner works on that particular model. All that needs to happen is the leash releases and the kite gets stuck in a tree and you are out the price of an entire kite. so poney up the $50 or whatever it costs for a new one. If you get the right kind of leash this kind of accidental release will quit happening. I guess you can duct tape it? That works too but it can be a pain to get the duct tape off if you need to remove the leash from the harness.
