Thank you for the info. May I ask how you know that the extensions should be 4 inches? Would I be able to get a users manual for this by any chance? Or any useful info besides the extensions. I just don´t know where to look.

The 4 inches extensions idea /suggestion did not come from me but from Laughingman on page 1

The first thing you have to do before you go to the beach is pump it and let it sit for 2-3 hours to see if it leaks a bit or like crazy...have you done that already ?

I never said I would learn by myself with this Diablo C kite. I will learn with the instructor´s kite the first classes. Once I´m able to ride on my own I´ll use a 2016 Liquid Force WOW kite.

I haven´t even seen it yet but I heard it´s more oriented towards wave riding. I don´t think I´ll use the 14m Diablo C kite until I´m ready. But I bought it new for very little money (supposedly new) so I don´t think you can go wrong with that price and even if I don´t like it there might be someone interested to sell it or maybe I can use it if I need it. But I thought C kites are still used for Freestyle, aren´t they?

The best thing to do is to get lessonS first (plural, more than one day) and then decide what to buy. I know you are enthused about the sport and want to be prepped to jump right in, that's awesome, it's a great sport. The issue is there is no shortage of used equipment in the market and the condition of the used gear, and the design of the specific kites, varies greatly.

If you end up trusting your instructor after the lesson, he will have a lead on used gear for you. He will probably direct you towards used gear that is in good condition and of similar design to what he taught you on.

You'd be fine buying the board ahead of time and maybe even using it for the lesson. As others have said, I'd return the kite if you can and not worry about buying gear until after your lesson. The instructor will probably even offer to rent you the kite cheap if you want some time on your own after the lesson. If he does that, that also means he trusts you have progressed far enough to be trusted with the gear.

Ocean Rodeo also have swapped knots and loops compared to what I usually ride. Make sure the side of the bar lines go to the back corners of the kite. Tether the chickenloop to a non movable object and get a kiter with some experience to check that it powers and de-powers correctly before you try it.

Update: the kite never arrived to my address. The seller said the item got returned to him because I didn't pay enough postage but it doesn't make sense. I'm not sure if he was a scammer but I had paid USD 150 and ebay refunded me the money. I also purchased a 12m Liquid Force WOW 2016 which did arrive and is my current kite. I did take lessons and I go to a safe lagoon whenever I can. I want to thank you all for your help. From what you've told me it's better that the old thing never arrived

You're right mate.

I have learned five years ago and my first kite was a Takoon Skoope 14'5 m (2003?) that I traded giving old windsurf gear lying in my garage, just to try it.

The kite was very likely to hindenburg and repower violently in the minimal change in wind speed, and as soon as I had a chance to try a modern kite (2009 Nobile) I realised why I get my takoon for almost free...

I have a 2017 17M Ocean Rodeo Flite. My bar was stolen about two years ago. I want to use the kite however
I believe I need specific extensions for this kite to be used with my Slingshot Bar. What extensions are necessary and where can it be purchased?

On 2017 and older OR kites, the rear/steering bridle lines are 10 cm ( 4 inches ) shorter than the all-4-lines-equal-length-at-full-power that is now standard across the kiting industry. OR bar & lines back then would have a pair of 10cm pigtails ( extensions ) on just the steering lines, & no pigtails on the front lines.

If you contact an OR dealer nearby, they should have a pigtail kit for 2017 and older kites that will equalize all the bridle lengths. The kit will also switch the kite's bridles to loops on the on front bridle connection points and knots on the steering/rear bridle connection points, which is a the more-common arrangement.
