There was this other topic about a 2012 kite that is still alive and kicking, the guy asking about changing the bar because of stretched lines.
I also have an old 2012 kite that I rarely use (
only when I get lucky and winds go >15 knots - not even 30 times a year ).
As it is rarely used, it still is in good condition.
I'm wondering how much time do you keep using your (old) kites.

I have 2006 GK Sonic - 8. I dont say it is in good condition, but i still use it.
I leave it for my children to beat it to death while learning
It has very good safety system just let go the bar and all pull is gone. Only thing missing is one pump

I learned on my 2012 Cab Vector and have had a love hate relationship with it. It's not fast, steering is kind of numb, jumps OK for a 12m but I have had to make zero repairs on it and its in pretty good condition considering its the kite I learned on in 2012. I ended up buying a new bar today since I saw Real was having a sale. I'll probably use it some what regularly for another year then finally upgrade sometime in 2019. My other kites that I regularly use are RPM's and they are 2012 and 2013. I don't get to use them as much as the Cab so they're in pretty good shape as well. I'll probably keep using them until they start showing serious wear and shouldn't be flown.

It would be very interesting to have an independent kite designer deconstruct this kite to find out why it's been so durable. Is it just overbuilt and heavy? Is it superior materials, design, luck, or a combination of these things?
Tomtom, what does it currently weigh? How does it compare weight-wise to a 2018 8m?

I still have a 2006/2007 (don't know what year) Sonic 8m. Great kite actually and still fly it a couple times a year just for something different. Its taken a beating and nothing is wrong with it. I replaced the valves a couple years ago, but that's it.

Switch Combat V1 7m. Bought it 6 or 7 years ago and still is in good condition.
Infinite high end and good for boosting. It also generates a lot of power if you know how to fly it.
I reserve it only for those days when it blows +30 kt.

2010 liquid force Envy 12 m. Super quality kite, still in very good condition despide that i learned on this kite. Its hybrid and only two mineses are its depower cc system below bar, which is not usefull so much in strong winds and quick release system which is strange and not safe engineered. Despite it material, colors and quality, even bar grip and lines are all in super condition. Only changed depower line to new. Used quite often for 4 years.

Waroo 2008 5m but it doesn't get out much like once a year in Crazy 50 knots storms.
