Lwc: yes, there are thousands of new tricks possible...they just need to do it.

But look at Kevin, he just does his signature Boardoff over and over again. Why not Spin it, flip it etc. just add a bit of variation, it is so easy.

Jesse is awesome...what a powerful and crazy/risky rider.
But judges scored height 70%...that’s why Lewis won.
If they start to change that, comes another freestyle event...no one wants that to happen.

BTW...Kevin won strictly hooked...does that ring a bell ?

I think 70% for height is too much. I'm more impressed by a handlepass at 10m than a onefooter at 15m. It really isn't going to be another freestyle event if you lower the height criteria.

And no, doesn't ring a bell... would be even cooler if he unhooked while doing the boardoff.

And then you would be more impressed by a double handle pass in 5 m = freestyle.
You have a tour. Leave us one event. Thanks !

Yeah well even with less emphasis on height a 5m double handlepass would score less than a 15m boardoff. And 300 boardoff variations are getting just as boring as 300 HP variations after a while.

What you see now is that you don't have to do very risky stuff, just get the height and you're good.

If KOTA is something as F1 than must be seen developing also in engineering side. If heigt is most important scoring than why woo or piq not made special height tracker which can translate directly telemetry of jump? This i thing can be acheaved for 50-200 meters range where their kiting easy, just put radio or wathever signal transmision to jump tracker. Also meter landing force, airtime and give additional points for for it Also viewers must see live data of jump, landing, airtime in beach LCD monitors also viewers in TV.
Demand of such live telemetry data is huge, not only for Kota but also for all local kite events and competitions. Also with perspective for Olympic games.
This is i think most key elements of this event.
By the way i think jump sensor must be placed on hook point, because it is real point, now sensors on board is quite subjective as rider can do board up and head down but this is artificial adds not existig jump 1-1,5meters, still hook near chicken loop is exactly point which you cannot other influence to add more 1 meter somehow moving.
And impossible to count only looking with eyes if rider jumped 18 or 20 meters. And if scoring for height is so big than must be done right technical aspect to know fot all live jump height in that moment.
Other thing is to have really fair scoring must be done list of scoring elements and point exaclty, let say kgb 50, back roll 10 and so one. So, to make score list of all additionl movements.
Plius give additional scores for performance, every additional meter in jump.
Than will be something more clear for all, because now seems as blind game in moonlight, we thinking and expecting but judges scoring others. Also it will be more easer to riders to play this game. Now all kota working in imho aspect.

Plus, the wind speed should be kept in mind when judging the height. It takes more skill to get those 15m in 25 knots than in 35 knots. Or they should use some formula to normalize the scores according to average windspeed during a heat.

This is no more "your" comp than anyone elses. Red Bull will do whatever they see fit. The manufacturers will want it to keep going in the directions of bridled kites that they actually sell instead of the C's they have had to keep in the lineup as a token of performance.

Will the comp go full board off? Where height and float and softer loops are considered extreme, or will judging shift to retain the original risk and athletically extreme angles its rewarded since it's rebirth?

It all comes down to how much dangle you want in your elite level kiteboarding competition.

Freestyle went from dangle to power. Will Kota go the other way?

Personally I think Jessie's all out, all the time, power based riding has made him the uncrowned king.

Yes, live height would be awesome to see.
Looking forward to that.

RB can do what they want. Private event. Glad to have it.
So can someone else 🤗
Let’s see what comes this year.

If you have direct contact to KOTA organizers please Toby or others give them our hopes regarding live jump sensors telemetric data streamings for next year KOTA competition and broadcasts.
I think woo or piq really can make few of them special for KOTA. This would be great achievement finally.

Direct telemetry readings were used this year in the half pipe events at the winter Olympics. Hope it is a go at next years KOTA. yes, it needs to be shown on a monitor live for spectators as well
