I am using NP S1 Halo spreader the same way. I never flag but I still have it, above the bar, like the old set ups, where the front lines attach. So you can either grab it by hand or connect safety leash just before you want to fire it. KISS

The ideas is great. I am going to make my self one. Yes I agree no flagging line is a gamble. An accident can happen at any time.

Too KISS in my opinion. No swivel or flag out. Hard to grapple when the shit hits the fan. It's a bit too dangerous for anything other than light winds.
But I like the idea of a custom chicken loop.

...and the loops to adjust the steering lines are particularly good at catching the bar ends... If you want to KISS, why not just put a set of 3 knots on the leader lines instead?
Also, when that QR pin opens up under substantial load, you'd better not have any bit of hand or testicle around.

Super simple very minimal bar/chicken loop system.
Take a good look at the BRM bar...

Sometime Simple is euphemism for stupid
This bar set up is simple for SURE.
a bunch of work, just to make a system that has dangerous flaws that have already been identified in previous posts. (edt)
Guy clearly hasn't ever been in deep shit with his kite. Don't emulate this people.
