GoPro post production Horizon Leveling

Postby faklord » Fri Apr 27, 2018 12:50 pm

I'm looking for a method of Horizon levelling in the editing stage of footage from a GoPro session 5.
I know there is potential to do this using the metadata stored with the footage but I'm no software geek, so this is currently beyond me :(

All I'm initially after is something to smoothly translate the footage through 90 or 180 degrees (on a Mac) so line mount footage of direction changes don't end with the kiter upside down.
Its easy enough to flip footage in 90deg increments (in iMovie etc) but I can't find a way to get a smooth translation over a period time.

I'm sure I read a post recently from someone who had found a package were you could define a start point & changed orientation @ a finish point, and the package would interpolate to give a smooth translation from start to finish..But now, search as I may, I can't find that post.

Any ideas? Preferably something thats not going to cost a fortune.
Thanks

There is an add-on for Final Cut X that will do it. I think it is called Horizon Fixer.

Try DaVinci Resolve.

It is a free to use software that will enable you to smoothly rotate to any degree fairly easy. I had great success with it.

@ The Captain. Thanks for the response. Gave Horizon Fixer a go but only seems to have 15 degrees of authority.

@ kite_hh. Thanks. Will give it a go.
