I don't get why people don't put their name and phone number on their gear...especially boards...but hey -- that's just me!

I have my phone written with water resistant pen on board and white pads. Has been 2 years now- still there. Cheap and quick.

Yup, it is a safety issue. Not yours, but rather the rescuers who would be out in dangerous conditions looking for someone that is not there.

Keep your name and number on your board. If you loose it, make sure you or someone else, keeps by your phone to answer for when it is found. If you do something like lose a kite, call in yourself and let the local rescue authority know that you lost a kite and you are safe. It is unfortunate that only a very small percentage of the kite community is conscientious enough to figure this one out for themselves.

Phone the coastguard and give a description. It couldn't be easier.

Just goes to disprove evolution. Most people are not smart enough to have evolved from anything.😳

Though I understand you may not be seriously posing this idea, I have to bite on it.

Intelligence is not necessarily an important trait favorable to survival and continuing evolution. Having success in producing offspring who grow to reproduce is much more important than being smart. One could argue that intelligence is actually self limiting, at least in human societies. Typically the smarter a portion of the human population, the lower the birth rate that portion exhibits. The least intelligent humans tend to have offspring at much greater rates than the smarter ones. Thus we, as a kiting community, can expect more idiots vs less intelligent people to join our ranks in the future. Bleak future.
