Totally agree. My 11m 2016 5th line Rebel is my top fav kite...I have a 12m 2018 and its a difference kite, just not as stable, direct and fun to fly IMHO. Fortunately I have the 2016 9m and 14m as well. Phew
Oh and... make the bag zippers in plastic so they don't disintegrate after 3 months!... and use Liros quality lines or equivalent in your bars!..... and.... and... and ... my head is spinning!!!! The possibilities are limitless!!!! TAKE MY MONEY NOW!!!!apollo4000 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 25, 2018 2:28 pmTotally agree. No but they certainly claim it! The favorite spot for kite surfers to "claim" surfing is ironically that flat spot between 2 waves. Poor mental disability must have them confused what the waves are actually for.
Good info here, thx Dan. When I first heard Duotone it sounded kind of weird and was wondering why "True" was not elected as the new brand name. Having been involved in some very minor licensing / branding agreement projects I can appreciate the complexity of everything you mentioned above and it all makes sense. All said, I never really saw the big deal in the first place. When I am on the water I'm not thinking, "this kite is amazing; if only its name was better." Ultimately, all I care about is the kite's performance and I know that you all have the best talent in the biz. I'm looking forward to seeing what's ahead.Dan-at-Duotone wrote: ↑Tue Jun 26, 2018 12:22 amThe important thing is that we have a tried and true group of people who now have a brand they can truly call their own and for which they've worked insanely hard over the last several months to build from scratch. I have faith that we will produce great products under the Duotone name, back it up with great service, and whatever may be your initial reaction to the name, I think that through the hardwork, passion, and dedication of the people at B&M, the name Duotone will come to stand for the top brand in kiteboarding.
Hope this helps shed a little light on the process. If anyone has any other questions, again feel free to post here or PM me directly.

Thanks Dan for the explanation. I was not pleased with the new name myself but then I got thinking.. How about other company names such as Cabrinha, Gaastra, Wipika, Takoon, and Naish. These are all kite companies with strange names that we have gotten used to. By next year we will be talking about Duotone gear just like any kite company. ..but it will take a little while.Dan-at-Duotone wrote: ↑Tue Jun 26, 2018 12:22 amHope this helps shed a little light on the process. I actually like DogShit Kites better than Duotone...Osprey1 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 26, 2018 6:23 amCan we end this discussion already? I couldn’t care less about the brand name of a sporting goods company, as long as thier products are high performing and of high quality I’ll buy them. I own plenty of mountain bikes, surf boards, snowboards, etc etc with silly brand names. I’ve loved my Vegas and Mono kites as long as they fly the same they could be called DogShit kites and I’d buy more in the future.
Please kill this thread. Enough already, please stop posting and go kite!
