Duotone News:

Duotone Rebel 2019

The Rebel is an iconic kite with a legendary status and since last year you can ride it on a 4 or 5-line setup. It’s the all-time classic freeride machine with stunning hangtime and the best sheet-and-go power development. As always, the wind range is huge, there is plenty of low-end power, the high-end is incredible and the 5-strut design keeps the canopy stable, even in very gusty conditions.

FOR 2019, WE GAVE THE REBEL SMALL PERFORMANCE GAINS WITHOUT SACRIFICING ANYTHING. IT HAS BETTER DEPOWER, BACKSTALL RESISTANCE AND JUMPS ARE MORE VERTICAL WITH THE SAME IMPRESSIVE HANGTIME.

The new 4/5 line connection gives double the options
A thinner leading edge boosts efficiency as well as increased turning speed for dynamic handling.
The flatter profile adds power, enhances flying characteristics and resistance to backstall.
The two bridle anchors are now closer to the centre of the leading edge, especially good for heavier riders who need an extremely stable kite that can handle high loads and big power spikes.

They were the best kites when they were 5 lines. Now they are just another four line kite. Nothing unique about them except for the terrible name.

Yeah, because none of my other four line kites do that.

What did the 5th line do that made Rebels so good? I've never tried either variation of them, but I keep hearing guys lament the loss of the 5th line....
I always thought it was just a safety measure for added depower? Did it make the kite jump better somehow?

Anyway.....no real interest in either one, more curiosity than anything.

It was "woo ", as shown on the woo leaderboard in the movie .
I switched to North kite's last year and received my duotone 's ( 11 and 9 rebel ) yesterday .
I was impressed by the Rebel last year , had a Evo 12 m ( 2018 ) but replaced it this year for a 13,5 m Core nexus

My brother and me tested for 2 day's our Rebel's ( 2018 ) against the core XR5 ( 11 and 9 m ) and Nexus (11m)
The Core 's are nice too but the Rebel is much smoother in overall feel !

I choose a 13,5 m Nexus because it is a faster kite ( almost same as my Rebel 11 ) and in that size very stable and a very nice kite .
We tested the Nexus in 11 and 9 m but than i prefer the Rebels for my " old scool " riding .

So next week i hope to give them a go and compare to my ( 2018) Rebel .

Good info. Helpful. Thanks. And please do follow up on the 2018/2019 Rebel comparison. I’m sure many are curious.
