How much discount on a 2016 kite?

Postby qwertyjjj » Tue Sep 11, 2018 10:58 pm

How much discount should you drive for with a 2016 kite at a store? Bearing in mind current season is probably 2019?
30%?

2017 can be had at 40% off depending on kite brand/model and size.

Hmm. Must just be Canadian prices due to the exchange rate. I've never seen any windsurf/kitesurf discounted that much :(
How much discount for a current year model? 15%? Most here won't offer more than 5

Is this a new kite that did not sell for three years? Might be a problem, what is it?

In Europe (UK and Germany for example) you will get 2018 top kites (e.g. Naish Pivot or Fone Bandit) for 30-35% off now.

If it's still around in a shop and nothing unusual has occurred in the business, then it's most likely a very specialized type of kite and/or a small size, or their stock taking needs some attention!
I have seen some Naish 2016 Torches for sale.
Most freeride kites seem to be 2017 with discounts from 10 to 50% (e.g Cab FX's & Apollos)
If you have found a freeride 2016 kite, I would say around 50% off RRP would be good.
You - love-it have kites from 2013! But who knows whats in their stock!

What have you found?

I just bought a 2018 11m Switchblade for $900 from an online shop after I made an offer below what they were asking. I also bought a brand new 2017 Cabrinha trimlite 60cm bar for $275. Both the kite and the bar were nearly 50% off. If you're looking to buy 2016 gear, it was likely manufactured in 2015. I would expect AT LEAST 50% off if not more. Good luck mate

Retail kite pricing often seems to have a msrp (manufacturer suggested retail price) that pretty much no one pays and then an actual retail price. So when talking % off......need to know what price you are starting with.

For example. ...one brand I am familiar with introduced an ambassador program where members got 50% off kites. Just before that announcement they introduced msrp ' s that were 50% higher than the prices advertised at that time on their own website. So their standard retail prices appeared to always be "on sale" with dramatic discounts .... but from a fictional starting point.

lately I've seen sales for 2017 kites at $399 for small sizes and $599 for larger sizes.....slingshot sst. If that gives any help on a "good deal"
