Adding a rope to the Rideengine harness with hook

I have the Ridengine harness with the rope and some time I would prefer a hook.

I’m tenting to add a rope to the engine hook and ride it that way.

Is there anybody that tried it.

This would be the best of both world on one harness.

Ride Engine sells the spreader hook separately, about $40 or so.

The idea is to have both on the same harness.

It you tt in high winds the hook is more comfortable.
When kitesurfing the rope is definitely a plus,
Hydrofoil .. I’m just starting can’t say.

But by having both ... its seems like an idea to explore,

Jay Dynabar - you can add the small U shaped metal loop and rope at the same time and switch between them as required.. no good for unhooking obviously.

Yep, looked at it already.

But was looking for a fixed hook.
Anyways I just ordered the Engine Hook
I will attach a slider rope.

Both on one is less than ideal, your welcome to try it, maybe different for you. I ride 90% slider, and only about 10%hook, and its usually pretty obvious when its gonna be a hook day so Im happy with the 2 min it takes to swap.

Did the two in one early on when first testing a slider and found the sliding set up can occasionally hang up on the hook. Its not an emergency or anything, but unnerving with a stock CL set up on the slider and undesirable. Shedding the hook also avoids a few surfboard dings.

Love having both options, and it really is a 2 min swap. I ride slider with integrated leash, so my leash lives attached to the hook spreader.

The Ride engine, or likely any hard shell really suits the slider. Its at its best when pretty snug, has decent grip and doesn't slide around. Makes for noticeable torque when riding toe side with the hook. Not a big issue, but if I rode with a hook even half the time, I would opt for a softer more traditional harness for TT days and just use the hard shell with the sliding set up.

boubou it literally takes me 5 seconds to switch from slider rope to spreader hook. Go in, set down kite, remove slider and put on spreader. I'm not exactly sure why the heck you would want to switch it on the water???

Just buy the ride engine spreader, you already have the slider and then when you want to switch come in and switch it's super easy on the ride engine system to switch it.

Jump the shark do you also have ride engine? It doesn't take me more than a few seconds to swap.

I'm wondering why some of you still like the hook? Unhooking, sure but if not why preference for hook setup?
